'Cameron, i f Dies 'In Toronto I William Henry Hill, 83, died at his home, 110 Evelyn Cres., Toronto, on Monday, January 14. Mr. 'Hill was born in Exeter and started clerking with Rich- ard Pickard then later with I Robert Pickard. Ile became manager of Carling Bros. dry goods department and in 1900 went to Buffalo for three years. Later in Toronto he travelled for Gordon McKay wholesale dry goods and then was in similar blisinesk of his own for 25 yeark prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Canadian Order of Forresters. Schlicting, German' air attache at Ottawa, said last week that he and three training Officers of the West German Air Force have been "very impress- ed" with pilot training at RCAF Station Centralia. They came here Wednesday. to visit the RCAF primary fly- ing training school. Col. Schlicting accompanied the 'three officers on a tour of RCAF stations. The West Ger- man officers are: 'Col. J. R. A total of 360 West Germans will some to Canada for training by the RCAF. West Germany will ,purchase 225 Sabre Jets from Canadair Ltd. of Montreal, costing a total of $75,000,000. First group of trainees will arrive in Canada this week and proceed to London for orienta- tion courses before coming to Centralia. The remaining students will be processed during the next 18 months. The German contingent 'will be one, of. the largest in Canada's NATO program. The officers were given a briefing of the station by GC A. M. Cameron, commanding officer. They stayed at Central- ia overnight and went to Lon- don Thursday. Each of the visiting dignitar- ies was a member of the Luft- waffe during the war; two were combat pilots. Present strength of the West German air force is 14,000 and a 'rebuilding program is under way to increase it. His wife predeceased him some years' age. He is survived by one brother, Frederick Hill, of Toronto, and several nieces and nephews.
