foot in the Perthex Conference
League as they registered de-
cisive victories over Mitchell
High in the opening games of
the season,
The females produced the •
most scoring power in the cage
games as the South Huron jun.
tor girls netted a 62.10 triumph
while the seniors ran wild for a
66.17 decision.
Over in. Mitchell, where Glen
Mickle had the South Huron
junior and senior boys teams,
the two schools split the double-
header,
South Huron seniors chalked
up, a 46-37 victory in a hard-
fought game while the juniors
were outplayed to the tune of
44-15.
In Exeter, where the girls'
games took place, the local sen-
iors led all the way by sinking
baskets from all angles that
Produced double figure scores
in each of the four quarters,
Joan Ravelle with 22, Rose-
mary Dobson with 20 and Julia
Gulens with ,3 points sparked
the lop-sided win.
Shirley Campbell and Mary

by Bill Lavender with 13 and
Ted Smith with 11.
Fisher was , Mitchell's high
man as he accounted for 16
points.
B. MeNaught and B. Ritz of
Mitchell gave the South Huron
juniors ,plenty to worry about as
the two piled up 34 points be-
tween them,.
McNaught sunk nine baskets
and one 'foul shot for 19 points
while Ritz hit the centre of the
basket for 15,

The Evening Auxiliary of the
Woodham church entertained
the members of the Women's
Missionary Society on Tuesday
evening to a ham supper in the
church basement.
Afterwards the preCident, Ver-
la Wheeler led in the worship
service. Mrs. Beth Thacker
sang a solo. A film was then
shown by Jean Copeland, "A
church around the world."

The Young Peoples' Union held
a toboggan party on Friday eve-
ning in St. Marys after which
they gathered at the home of
Miss Grace Doupe when a social
evening and lunch was enjoyed.

Buried In London

Whitney Coates attended the fu-
neral in London of the late Adolph
E. Coates. He'was well known as
a traveller for Coates, Burns
and Wanless Shoe Company.,
Later he was engaged in the
brokerage business with his
brother, Robert, who survives, as
well as a sister, Gertrude, all of
London.
