The size of the tucks may be varied
(rem the Merest thread to a quarter of
an inch, the gret named, 'especially in
hand work, being the most populae. The
amount of work, when entirely 'done by
hand, Is quite alarming to the busy
woman ; but the effect Is almost as good
when tee smallest tuck poSsible to a

mice, 21.7 bushels, and Michigan amber,
26.3 bushels,' and of winter rye-marns
moth, 26.4 and oornmon, 21.4 bushels.

M long as the supply lasts, material
will be distributed free of charge in the
order in which the applications are re-
eeteed from Ontario farmers wIshing,to
experiment and to report the results of
any one of the following tests: 1. Hairy
vetches and winter rye as fodder crops;
three varieties of winter wheat; 3,
five fertilizers with winter wheat; 4,
aelumn and spring applications of ni-
trate of soda and common salt on win-
ter wheat, and 5, two varieties of win-
ter rye. The size of each plot is 10 be
cne rod wide by two rods long. Ma-
terial for numbers 3 and 4 will be sent
by express and that for the others by
mail.

daring robbery was committed on Wed-
nesday, when General De Negrier, of
Paris, a guest at the Windsor Hotel, was
relieved ot his wallet, containing a letter
ot credit for a large amount, while he
was attempting to board a street car.
General De Negrier, who is weleknown
in Fnench army circles, having had com-
mand of the French troops in Algeria,
is on a eisit to Canada. According to his
story, he was followed to the Bank of
Montreal, where 114 drew a considerable
sum on his letter of ceedlt, by those who
