IT MAKES QUICK SALES.
Stores that describe their goods
in the newspapers make sales
quicker than those who do not ad-
Ivertise.
People go to the adyertised store
with the impression of the goods
so thoroughly stamped on their
minds that they know just what
they want, what it costs and all
about it.
If they go to the stores that do

taking two or three times the time.

PRESBYTERIAN FOREIGN MISSIONS.
Last week the Foreign Mission com-
mittee of the Presbyterian church in
Canada held a two days ssesaion in
Toronto, at which important business
was transacted. The reports submit-
ted state that the present is the flood -
tide of missionary opportunity in
China. In Honan remarkable pro-
gress was noted in both religious and
educational work. The church has
now 1053 converts in Ronan, and the
society is confronted with the neces-
sity of providing a medical mission-
ary, three ladies and two pastors to
that field. The committee found it
necessary to reduce the estimate for
the central India field by 30 per cent.
