and much better than was expected from
the oacts of the recently open sad un-
favourable winter ; if it escapes the Ay and
the rust, our farmers may expect • good
harvest. The spring crops, so far, look re-
markably well. We understand that the
hunters of this vicinity are planting a much
greater quantity of Indian Corn this year
than they have done since the introduction
of oatmeal ; this, we believe, is owing
principally to the failure of the potato° crop,
and is intended to be seed to some extent
as &substitute. We hare not as yet learn-
ed whether our farmers are planting pota-
toes un a small or large scale this year ;
how•eveer, it might be as well to have
enough in, even if they sbonld fait Taking
the appearance of the crops on the whole,
there is • fair prospect of a good harvest.

the present appearance of the wheat crop

reason to believe that the yield will be good.

which we commenced last winter, and
which gave general satisfaction.

the facility with which the work is done,
equals, they feel proud to u ssert, any
country foundry in Canada.
They further pledge themselves to the

rival by the British Steams», is a beauti-
ful clear type, on lee white paper,' and are
faithful copses of the originals—Bloc word's
Magazine being an exact lac -simile of the
Edinburgh edition.
The wide -spread fame f these splendid
Periodicals renders it needless to say much
in their praise. As literary organs, they
stand far in advance of any works of a si-
milar stamp now published, while the poli-
tical complexion of each ie marked by a
dignity,candour, and forbarance not often
found in works ofa patty character.
They embrace the views of the three
great parties in England—Whig, Tory,
and Radical—Blackwood and the London
quarterly are Tory , the Edinbvg% Re-
