One is that an ever green protected Joseph and Mary and the Infant Jesus from Herod’s sol diers; another is that the Lord sent heavenly messengers to earth to find a tree “as high as Faith, as eternal as Hope and as widespread as Love” to symbolize the birth of Jesus. They chose the balsam fir which, the story goes, had all these qualities and bore “many crosses on each branch.” Symbolically, the tree reminds us of the Christ—the top of it pointing to heaven, the lights denoting the Light of the World, and the presents be neath it reminding us that all gifts come from above. Wo made a large drawing of Santa Claus on cardboard and then but out his various features—arms, legs, nose and beard and so on. We fasteneed the body part to the wall and gave each player a piece of the cut-out- Then they were blindfolded and ask ed to pin their piece of Santa to the body. Needless to say the results were always hilarious; sometimes Santa’s eyes peeked out from behind his knees or he ended tip wearing his beard for a cap.—Eleanor Saracuse in ORA, >• kk ■■ . 1 \ Authorized bottler of Coca-Cola under contract with Coca-Cola Ltd,
