H. P. Johnston, Bell maha- ger for this region, -announced this week. Approximately 9,000 copies of the new directory are being distributed throughout the area it serves. Besides Wingham, the directory goes to sub scribers in Durham, Hanover, Harris ton, Walkerton, Allan Park, Cargill, Conn, Drayton, Elmwood, Fordwich, Holstein, Lucknow, Mount Forest and Palmerston. The new directory contains 2,688 new and changed listings, and for that reason, Mr. Johnston urges tele phone users to throw away the old book as soon as the new one is de livered and thus avoid embarrassment, annoyance and lost time caused by calling wrong numbers. He also sug gested that subscribers keep a list, of frequently called numbers in the Blue Book of Telephone Numbers, These come in regular and pocket-size and are still iavgila.ble at the Bell business office. •‘When placing a long distance call, the connection will be made twice as fast, if the subscriber gives the opera tor the actual number instead of only the name and address,” added Johnston.
