The slick surface of wet asphalt
roadways has sent many a mo
torist limping to the garage with
flattened fenders and shattered
headlamps. But now research
engineers have come up with
something 'that sharply reduces
this accident hazard. When their
special aluminum oxide abrasive
is applied to the road surface, it
cuts down by more than 30%
the stopping distance of your car
when you apply the brakes at
30 m.p.h.
, /, So in addition to saving
weight and work in a thousand
everyday and special applica
tions, aluminum may prove a
major factor in saving lives, too.

Walker & Clegg factory. A very small

have left for their respective homes.
The work of compiling and revising
the list of all the men, and of as

militia records was a tedious one, but
it was tackled with a will by the local
military officers in charge under
Major Sharpies. The work of setting
every detail of the list in due form
was completed a few days ago.

Roy Garwood, of Kitchener, repre

of Toronto, of the same firm, met with
a motor accident Thursday morning.
While driving towards town a short
distance out of Belgrave, one of the
rear tires blew out, causing the car
to leave the road, when it rolled over
several times. Both men had scalp
wounds and one of them had his back
sprained. Dr. Colborne of Wingham,
dressed the injuries. The windshield
and one of the rear windows in the
car remained intact, while the body
was badly twisted. Both men were
able to proceed to their homes.
A car driven by Duncan McConnel,
plasterer of Lucknow, struck a coach
driven by Mrs. W. H. Stephens, of
Teeswater, who was accompanied by
Mrs. J. S. Dobbie, Mrs. A. M. Babb
and Mrs. C. Donehue, all of Te.eswater,
and all were badly shaken up. The
Lucknow car turned over twice and
landed 50 feet from the corner and is
a total wreck. The other car was
damaged but little and landed in the
ditch opposite the coach. Mr. McCon
nel was the only occupant of his car.
