WHITECHURCH
Home Helpers Meet ■
The regular summer Home Helpers j
^meeting of the W.M.S. of the Presby-;
terian Church was held on Thursday
last at the home of Mrs. Johnstoir
Conn, with 11 ladies present, and
with the president, Mrs. Jas. McInnis,
presiding. Mrs. Alex Robertson read
tlie Scripture lesson from Proverbs 31,
*fend Mrs.* Albert McQuillin led in the
Glad Tidings prayer. The topic crime
and justice, was taken from the study
book, “Face to Face with India,” by
Mrs. Donald Ross and Mrs. George
McKague. They told how poverty, un
employment and illiteracy were the
causes of so much petty crime and
how Communism appealed to these
underprivileged people, while what
they needed is a good moral educa
tion, learning the lessons of Christ.
Mrs, Albert Walters read a very
interesting letter from Missionary
Mildred Gehman, of Dellore, ,S. India,
and the meeting was closed by re
peating the Lord’s prayer in unison.
Lunch was served and all enjoyed
the social time. Many articles for the
bale were taken in.
