Krug at Knox Church Induction services were held in Knox United Church on Thursday evening, June 30th, when Rev. C._ A. Krug, B.A., B.D., of Chesley, was in­ ducted into the Belgrave charge. A large congregation was present from Belgrave and Brick Churches. Rev. W. J. V. Buchanan, of Corrie, secretary o£ Huron Presbytery, ad­ dressed the minister and Rev. D. J. MacRae of Wingham, addressed the congregation. Scripture lesson' was read by Mr..Alex Reid, of Wingham. Rev. Buchanan conducted the in­ duction service and Rev. The choir sang an anthem. Following the introduction, Mr. Michie, clerk of session, introduced the new minister to those present. Presented Teacher The pupils of the Junior Room of the Belgrave Public School presented their teacher, Miss Mildred Higgins with a hammered aluminum tray, on Tuesday last. Ann Wightman read the address and Marie Coultes pre­ sented the gift. Miss Higgins thanked her pupils. Miss Higgins will teach in Preston in September. Procter Re-union The 24th annual Procter re-union was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Procter, on Friday, July 1. There were 60 members present, and all enjoyed a social chat and games, lunch was enjoyed at the supper hour. The new officers for the re-union in 1956 are as follows: President, Mrs. Herb Wheeler; first vice-president, Charles Thomas; secretary, Mrs. Laura Johnston; games committee, Mr. and Mrs. John Spivey and Mr, and Mrs. Ross Procter, Lunch com­ mittee, Mrs. Jack Higgins, Mrs. Bert Armstrong, Mrs. Carl Procter and Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler, Good Crowd on Hand A good crowd was in attendance Saturday evening in the Community Centre, here, for the concert and dance, put on by CKNX and sponsor­ ed by the Arena Board, Personals Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith and Mrs. Ralph McCrea visited on Thurs­ day with Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Harmen and family and Mrs. Alice Allen, at Fullarton. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Procter and Cameron, Burlington, and Charles Procter, Oakville, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Procter. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brydges and family, Ridgetown, visited with Mrs. Thomas Brydges, on Sunday. Mr. apd Mrs. John E. McCallum are spending a few days in London with Mr. and Mrs. George Jones and family. Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Wheeler and family, London, spent the week-end with Mr. and Herb Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. R. Brook, of Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs. B. McKenzie, of Wingham, visited on Sunday with Mrs. Cora McGill. Mrs. Wilbert Byers and Miss June Byers, of Royal Oak, Michigan, spent G. Bruce Re-union The annual Bruce re-union was held on Friday, July 1st., at the Belgrave Community Centre with 52 present, and a very enjoyable day was spent with dinner at one o’clock, after which games‘and races were enjoyed by all. The oldest member present was Mr, Alfred Bruce, of Woodstock, 82 years old. Friends gathered from Kitchener, St. Marys and Woodstock and the surrounding communities. Committees were named to plan for next year with Mr. Athol Bruce, pre­ sident, when the reunion will be held at the Same place. Lunch was served and all returned home hoping to meet next year on the last Saturday in June for another enjoyable get to­ gether. • Mr. Bruce Scott, of Toronto, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rinn. Tina Baynes, of Belton, is spending the holidays with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Chamney. Samuel S. Campbell Former CPR Agent A former resident of Wingham and CPR agent here for a number of years, Samuel Shibley Campbell, died at his home at 133 Toronto Street, Kingston, on Tuesday, June 28th, 1955. Mr. Campbell, who was well known in town, left Wingham about ten years ago/ Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine J. Gilbert, and a son, Gerald F. Campbell. Funeral service was held on Thurs­ day, June 30th, from the Robert B. Cullen funeral home, Kingston, with Rev. R. Vatcher officiating. Inter­ ment was in Verona cemetery. FORDWICH Bride-to-be Honored Mrs. Stanley Bride entertained for her daughter Miss Gwenneth Bride, who is being married on July 9th, to Mr. John Hembly Riddell. She was assisted by Mrs, John Riddell. Miss Elizabeth Ann Cooper answer­ ed the door and the guest book was in charge pf Master Robert Bride. In the afternoon Mrs. Fred Siefert invited the guests to the dining room, which was decorated with pink and white streamers, roses and delphin­ ium. She was assisted by Mrs, Stan McRae and Miss Marilyn Cooper, Pouring tea were the bride’s grand­ mother, Mrs. H. M. Bride, Mrs. W. Cooper and Mrs. J. Richardson. In the evening Mrs. Ron Reed invited the guests to the dining room, assisted by Mrs. Carl Stewart and Miss Isobel McCann, Miss Margaret Spence and Mrs. Mac McIntosh poured tea. Show­ ing the trousseau were Miss Marianne Doig, Miss Joan McIlroy, Miss Ruth Richardson, Miss Donna Watts, Miss Eleanor McCartney and Miss Eliza­ beth Patterson. Initiation Service The members of the L.O.B.A. Lodge, of Fordwich, also Gorrie L.O.B.A., attended lodge in Palmerston last Week, Where Fordwich L.O.B.A. con­ ducted an initiation service and also displayed the floor work of the order. Two lucky draws were made and won by Mrs. Earl Moore, of Ford­ wich, and Mrs. Gordon Underwood, of Gorrie. The ladies of the Palmerston order served a delicious lunch. Sothem Re-union The eighth annual Sothern re-union was held July 1st in the Listowel park, the attendance being down somewhat from last year. At 12.30 everyone sat down to a bountiful dinner after which the president, Ira Schaefer, presided for the business, after wel­ coming all. Wm. Wilson, secretary read the 1954 minutes. Added improvement to the re-union this year was a new banner which was made by Mrs. Ruby Foster and Marjorie. It was decided to dis­ pense with the 1956 re-union as that will be Howick’s centennial in which a float will be entered, a committee being named to look after this. Officers elected for 1956-57 were: President, Bruce Sothern; 1st vice, Roy Hartman; sec.-treas., Mrs. Roy Hartman. Gifts were presented to the oldest lady present, Mrs. Bill Hawksbee, of Listowel; the oldest Sothern, William T. Sothern, of Fordwich; youngest baby, Susan Trethewey, of Stratford; coming the farthest distance, Mrs. Jean Christianson, of London. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in games and races. Perosnals Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Holland and Teddy, of Kitchener, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Everitt Allen. Mrs. Ronald Massey' and little daughter, of Fort Erie, are on an extended visit with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Aitcheson Wallace. Mr. Massey was called to take his basic training in the American army and will be stationed at Fort Erie for three months. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Doig, Penny and Peter, of St. Catharines, spent the holiday week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Doig. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Harris and family, of Kitchener, visited one day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Royden Devitt. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ridley attended the funeral of a cousin in Hamilton, last week. Miss Marlene Goodwin and Scott Keith, of Kitchener, visited over the week-end with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Keith. Mr. M. D. Irwin, of Fergus, visited in the community, one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brown spent a few days in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Schaefer visited in London, on Dominion Day, with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Schaefer. Dr. and Mrs. Forde and family, also Miss Ellen Cober, attended the circus in Hamilton last week. Mrs. Vern Denny, and Miss Esther Harding, of Preston, visited in the community one day last week and attended the supper at the United Church. Miss Ruth Johnson and Miss Anne Lindsay, of Toronto, are spending some holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Johnson. Mrs. Archie Campbell and Miss Winnifred Campbell are spending the next two months at their cottage at Minden. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hewens, of Toronto, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Simmons. Mrs. Ruby Forester and Miss Mary Corbett, of Toronto, visited over the week-end at the former’s home here. Miss Phyllis Keith left Sunday for Toronto where she will attend’ summer school.
