Good, of Auburn, was the guest speaker at the Easter Thank- ] offering meeting of the Knox Pres byterian W.M.S. Auxiliary. The meet ing was held in the church and was well attended. Mrs. J. C. McBurney presided and opened the meeting with the Creed in unison and an Easter hymn. Mrs. McBurney read the Scrip ture and Mrs. Youngblut led in prayer. Mrs. Good gave her message under three headings, first, “Could ye not watch with me for one hour?” stres sing the fact that we too very often fail in our duty and allegiance to the Saviour of mankind. Second, “It is finished.” These words of Jesus signified that Salvation was completed and ready for all to accept. Third, “Why weepest Thou?" We, like Mary Magdeline, often miss seeing and rec ognizing Jesus because our tears, our pleasures, and our disappointments blind us to His presence. Still Jesus bids us “Rejoice.” A solo, “The Old Rugged Cross”, by Mrs. W. Bradnock was greatly en joyed. Mrs. O. G. Anderson thanked Mrs. Good and Mrs. Bradnock for their fine contribution to the meeting. Plans were made for attending the Blyth W.MS. Thankoffering meeting on April 26. Mrs. J. Dunbar and Mrs. Allan Dunbar volunteered to act as visiting committee for this month, The offering was received and dedi cated by the president. Mrs. G. Nicholson read the Glad Tiding Prayer. The meeting closed with a hymn and with prayer by Rev. H. T. Colvin. A discussion led by Mrs. Good fol lowed concerning the re-organization of a mission band and it was decided to hold a Saturday meeting in the near future to get a band started. A social time followed, when Mrs. Nicholson and her committee, served a delicious lunch and cup of tea. Mrs. Frank Lockridge Dies in Kincardine Services for Mrs. Frank Lockridge, 56, who died in Kincardine General Hospital last week, were conducted on Thursday from the Linklater-funeral home, Kincardine. Rev. William B. Mitchell, Knox Presbyterian Church, officiated and interment was in Kin cardine cemetery. Mrs. Lockridge was the former Ella Armstrong, of Huron Township. Her husband is a brother of Mrs. Harry Town, and a cousin of Walter and Alf. Lockridge, .all of Wingham. She is survived by her husband, one son, Elgin, Vancouver and three daughters, Mrs. Earl Wilson and Mrs. Ivan Wilson, Kincardine; and Mrs. Brian Metcalfe, Wingham. MOHAWKS DROP FIRST IN HANOVER SERIES Wingham Mohawks lost the first game in their best-of-seven series with the Hanover Eight Balls last Tuesday night when Hanover edged them 12-10 in a free-scoring tilt in the Wingham arena. Both teams play ed patchy hockey with the locals coming forth with two goals on a mighty effort in the last minute of play. At the end of the first period the score was tied 3-3, after Wingham took an early two-goal lead, scoring three in less than two minutes of play. In the second frame the locals fell by the wayside when Hanover counted five goals to Wingham’s three, put ting the score at 8-6. The Eight Balls got away again in the final stanza and were four up on the Mohawks before a last-minute revival brought the locals within hailing distance.
