of Bruce at a meeting in Southamp
ton town hall.
He defeated P. S. McKenzie,- of
Walkerton, president of the associa
tion for the past ten year*. There
were 160 delegates in attendance,

vice-president, Walter- Chisholm, pf
Brant township, second vice-president,
Mrs. E. Dawson, of Chesley; secre
tary, Chester Merriam, of Tara, and
treasurer, Ernest Greer, of Glamis.

"Club 20” held its final meeting of
the season at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Michie on Tuesday even
ing, April 6th. The evening was spent
playing progressive euchre with high
prizes won by Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse
and Janies Coultes. Consolation prizes
went to Mdl. Harold Vincent and Al
bert Bieman.

but quiet wedding on Saturday, April
9th, when Rev. Charles D, Cox united
in marriage, Margaret Irene Smith,
youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Smith, Belgrave and Mr.
James Kennedy Lamont, Bly th,
youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Lamont, of Manson, Manitoba.
The bride chose a suit of grey pic-
n»pic with yellow and British tan ac
cessories and a corsage of red roses.
As matron of honor, Mrs. Ralph Mc
Crea, Belgrave, sister of the bride
chose a two-tone suit of grey and blue
gabardine with pink and navy acces
sories and corsage of pink carnations.
The best man was Mr, Ralph Mc
Crea, Belgrave, brother-in-law of the
bride.
At the reception held at the Bruns
wick Hotel, Wingham, to the immed
iate family, the bride’s mother re
ceived wearing a navy dotted taffeta
dress, pink and navy accessories and
corsage of pink carnations.
Mr. and Mrs. Lamont left on a
wedding trip to Toronto and the Un
ited States. The young couple will re
side in Belgrave.

Council Meeting
East Wawanosh council met in
ular session on April Sth, in the

Minutes of the previous meeting were
read and adopted on motion of Me-
Gewan and Purdon.
Correspondence was read from the
Dep’t, of Municipal Affairs in which
it was pointed out that the Tpwnship
would receive as special assistance, a
grant of $831.75, and that the element
ary schools would receive $812.00. The
audit report of the Goderich D,C.I.
was presented and ordered filed.
Mr. Jas. Falconer and Mr, Chas.
Martin addressed the council concern
ing a portion of the 12th Con. front
ing their properties where they said
that the road was narrow and hazard
ous. The council promised to inspect
this portion of the road and decide
on the action to be taken. The clerk
reported that the Plaetzer Municipal
Drain Report had been received from
the engineer and that notices would
go out to the assessed parties that it
would be read at the next regular
regular meeting of council.
Road accounts totalling $1,813.71,
and general accounts of $388.31 were
presented and passed, and ordered
paid on motion of Buchanan and Mc
Gowan. The following accounts were
paid:

NATIONAL FILM BOARD
PICKS HANOVER LOCALE
Hanover has been chosen as the
locale for the filming of a documen
tary story by the National Film Board
relating to Industrial Relations Prob
lems.
The movie will depict all the pre
liminary procedure between an in
dustry and a trade union, prior to
strike action being called or the
settlement of disagreements between
them. Knechtels Ltd. and local union
officials and members will be used
.for actual background setting and
participants.
Hanover was chosen on the recom
mendation of Alan Ladd, of Toronto,
a CIO official, and was visited this
week by Film Board officials. Work
will begin here next week.
The script for the film was written
by Ian MacNeill, and the director will
be Leslie McFarlane.
While the .story is of a fictional
nature, the settings will all be authen
tic including pictures of Hanover
main street, council chambers; the
union hall; homes and stores.

EGREMONT SPAN
CONTRACT GIVEN
Albert Reeves and Sons, of Mount
Forest, were awarded the contract for
demolition and construction of three
bridges in Egremont Township.
The new bridges will be built of
concrete at a cost of $17 per cubic
yard with an extra four dollars per
lineal foot /or hand rails.
Cost of removing the old structures
will be $25 each, plus an additional
$75 for providing temporary crossings.
