Christian Movies Effective with Trinidad Missionaries A report on "MAVU” a mobile audio visual unit operating in Trinidad under the directorship of Rev. Jack Thompson, son-in-law of Mr, and Mrs. Alex Reid, of Wingham, has been received by Mr. Reid. The report is as follows: "Since the Mobile Audio Visual Unit (MAVU) arrived in Trinidad at the end of August 1954, to the present time (mid-November), th© unit has been used some 35 times, giving re ligious film shows in city, town and country points. Besides shows, some j of our equipment has been used, as public address system for evangelistic meetings, church bazaars and other church-related functions. "The film, "The King’s Man’, has been shown 22 times. Everywhere it receives an excellent reception. Our people love Frederico Musilli as a .boy, a young man, and finally in his work of Christian service, as the King’s man. The impact of this story on the lives of many people who have seen this picture has been remarkable. One Sunday I dropped into a country Sunday School where the teacher was speaking to the crowd of children, and he was telling them with un usual detail and force, the story of the life of Frederico Musilli, This teacher of the children had seen the picture only once. It had impressed his life, and was now on its way to impress his pupils. ‘The King’s Man’ bids well to serve our people in Trini dad with a stirring challenge to Chris tian loyalty and service. “ ‘The Prodigal Son’ and ‘The Lost Sheep’ are pictures produced by the Protestant Film Commission, the stories of which are acted by marian- ettes. These rilms have been accepted heartily by Trinidad audiences. Their story value is of a high quality. The former has been exhibited seven times, and the latter in 14 places to date. We are saving some of these pictures for a second visit with MAVU. "What of our audiences? For the most part and in most cases it is made up of the general public. Whe ther shows have been held in the open air, in one of our school houses, in a church, or wherever it might be, there is one thing sure: a crowd is guaranteed. Indeed experience has shown the fact that the only place that seems big enough to hold the audience for any given show is the out-of-doors. “The moving picture is obviously the media for meeting the masses. At least this is true in Trinidad. A great opportunity awaits the presentation of the Gospel, as we gain confidence in and develop the best techniques. In every case one is assured of a recep tive audience for religious films—and a large audience, too. The average for a show in a village community ranges from 200 to'500 persons. "Our equipment is of the best, We are proud of the quality of ture that we can show. Clarity size of picture, together with ample volume will handle the largest crowds. Our generator is excellent, allowing us to give cinema shows everywhere. There are other mobile units on the island. The health department has one; the education department and the Government of India have theirs as well; but ours is the best!! Our screen is bigger, and we have plenty of reserve in volume with our large loud-speakers. The van in which we carry this equipment is by far the best in comparison. All in all we are proud of the equipment and thankful of the opportunity to present the Gospel in this powerful manner to both Christian and non-Christian alike. May God grant to us the right use of these material things;! that the spiritual and eternal truths may sink into the lives of those who see and hear through MAVU. We give thanks to God, and the people of the United Church of Canada for making this generous gift possible.” Officers Elected at Meeting Of United Church W.M.S. ‘UNGUIDED MISSILE’ CLEARS ROAD A wheel flew off a truck and rolled Brians and motorists to scurry out of. four blocks along Wardsville’s main its crozy path. Street without causing damage or In jury. The unguided missile ended up against a tree after forcing pedes- to NOCUBE-AJ.L "We have no cure-all for ___ shiny baldness,” Keele emphasizes. "If there is fuzz, the root is still capable of creating hair and we can perform what seems to be a miracle.” There is one thing Keele wants to be certain every man and woman knows. If a recession appears at the temples or a spot begins to show up on the crown of the head, there is something wrong and it should be given immediate attention. HAIR FOR LIFETIME "If clients follow our directions dur ing treatment, and after they finish the course, there is no reason why they will Hot have hair all the rest of theft lives’’ Keele said, "Our firm is definitely behind this treatment, it all depends oh the individual client’s faithful Observation, of a few simple slick HOW’S YOUR HAIR? Underwood, who also presided. Passages of Scripture pertaining to the theme and taken fropi the book of Acts were read by Mrs. W. J. Brown.
