During the evening progressive euchre was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Hargrave were presented with a table lamp and a delicious lunch was served. Confined to Hospital The many friends of Mr, Herb Collins will be sorry to learn that he is at present confined to Wingham Hospital having suffered a heart seizure last week. Mrs. Parker Eurig underwent a major operation at Listowel Hospital last week and at present is progres­ sing favourably. Bride, Mr. Bert Copper, Mr. and Mrs. Wray Coopei* and family and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gelyk and fam­ ily. Mr. and Mrs. John Hannah and visitors at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kejth and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gad eke. Mr, and Mrs. Trev Hainstock and Joan, of Milton, spent the week-end with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wray and Donna visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hawksbee, WRONG SPOT FOR HOOTING James Fraser, 18, of Thamesville, drew a year suspended sentence for creating a disturbance. He chose the street in front of Pro­ vincial Constable Bud Clark’s resi­ dence to hoot and yell from a car as it raced up and down the block. Magistrate Ivan B. Craig released Fraser on $200 bond under Adult Pro­ bation Officer Q. L. NighsWander and set an 11 p.m. curfew deadline. FIRE DESTROYS BARN IN HURON A fire early Tuesday morning of last week destroyed the bam of Harold Johnso.n, of concession 4, east in Huron Township, five miles souths east of Ripley, Mr. Johnson along with members of his family and neighbors released the horses and all the young cattle. Lost in the blaze were the season’s crop of hay, straw, grain and nine milking cows. The Ripley Fire Department under Assistant Chief Francis Gemmell was called to the scene and was able to save near-by frame buildings. Partial insurance was carried by the owner. MILL AT PAISLEY DATES TO 1862 One of the few remaining early typical grist mills in ‘Bruce County may be found at Paisley still oper­ ated by water power. The mill four-and-one-half storeys high, is of wood construction and still has the old fashioned cat walk from pne section of the building to the other, typical of the first mills link­ ing the mill and elevator. Presently owned by Neilson J, Stark anol operated with the aid of his two sons,, Lawrence and Harold, hiatory of the mill dates back to 1862 when it was owned by John Valentine,"” The grandfather of the present owner bought it in 1875 and the mill has operated *1 the Stark name since.
