Buchanan, Gorrie, on Monday, December 6th, 1954, The meeting opened with a brief devotional period in which a carol was sung, a portion of Scripture was read by Rev, C. D, Cox and a prayer was given by Rev. A. Nimmo. With the president, Rev. H. L, Parker, in the chair the minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary, Rev. D. J. MacRae, It was decided to hold the next meeting at Rev. MacRae’s home in Wingham, on January 10th, 1955. The special speaker, Padre Ft. Lieut, B. Garrett, of School, was introduced MacRae. The speaker recently Germany, told something about gen­ eral and religious conditions in Ger­ many, The speaker also spoke about the living conditions of our Canadian military forces in Germany. The padre felt that the Canadians stationed in Germany were relatively well cared for, Living together, as they do, they form something of & Little Canada overseas, The members of the council were very grateful to Padre Garrett for his informative address, , Following the meeting a delicious lunch was served by Mrs, Buchanan, ably assisted by Mrs. Gordon Edgar. The hearty thanks of the meeting was extended to the ladies for their kindness by Rev, Jennings, of Luck­ now. Clinton Air by Rev, D. J. returned from Miss Mary Johnston Buried in Wroxeter There passed away in Wingham General Hospital, on Saturday, Dec­ ember 4th, 1954, Miss Mary Johnston, eldest daughter of the late Geo. and Mrs. Johnston of the 2nd. of Grey. Mary was beloved by all who knew her and spent her life caring for others. When the ^brothers or sisters needed help Mary was always ready and willing to help. She was so busy helping others she never had time for a home of her own. At birthdays and Christmas she always remember­ ed he* brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews with gifts and cards. As a young woman at Roe’s Church she taught a class of boys in Sunday School and had been sent as delegate to Epworth League conventions many times. She loved her Bible and her church and when she was able never missed a Sunday service. She was a member of Roe’s church and in later years Kincardine United Church. Friends and relatives came from Toronto, London Tiverton, Kincar­ dine, Wingham, Gorrie, Lucan and Hickson and-all the old friends and neighbors from the 2nd. of Grey and S. S. No. 4, to pay their last respects to a beloved sister, aunt and friend. The funeral was from the D. A. Rann funeral home, Brussels on Tues­ day last. Six nephews acted as pall­ bearers, Ken Simmons, Alistar . Sim­ mons, Cameron Simmons, John John­ ston, Charles Shaw, Robert Johnston. Flower bearers were Art Simmons, Wm. Bremner,. C. J. Irwin, Harold Wright, Gordon Stephenson. She was laid to rest in Wroxeter cemetery beside her parents and a much loved sister, Martha, who pre­ deceased her two and a half years ago.
