H. B. John ston, Bell manager for this region. Included in the new directory are 2,747 new and changed listings in additional to the telephone numbers for customers in this area including Harriston, Walkerton, Palmerston, Hanover and Mount Forest. Because of the number of new and changed listings, Mr. Johnston urged customers to throw away the old book as soon as the new one arrives. “Telephone users can reduce the time required to make a long distance call by as much as 50 per cent by calling by number instead of. merely telling the operator the name and address of the party called/’ said Mr. Johnston. “We have found that the personal lists customers keep in the Blue Book have helped to make long distance service faster, “If an up-to-date record of new or changed local numbers is kept the Blue Book, many inquiries 'Information’ wi.II be eliminated.” More customers received copies this year’s directory than received last year’s edition. The increase from 8,160 to 9,326 reflects the growth in the number of telephones in service in the territory served by the direct ory.
