Meeting The Women’s Association of Blue­ vale United Church met on December 2nd., with the president, Mrs. Stanley Darling, in the chair. Meet The W.M.S. of the United Church met on December 2nd., with the pre­ sident, Mrs. Milton Fraser, presiding. The roll call was answered by quoting a Christmas verse. ' Votes of appreciation were given to Mrs. Darling and Mrs, Fraser for their fine efforts as presidents of the two societies, each for two years. Mrs. Henry Wheeler reported for Associate members. , Mrs. A. C, McCrackin, Mrs. W. J. Johnston and Mrs. M. L. Aitken pre­ sented the Christmas program “Cand­ les”, representing the partnership of Canada and India in striving to make India a progressive Christian country. ! The United Church W. M. S. this year has sent $176,000 for mission work in India, The missionary and mainten- 1 ance fund has also contributed, while our government’s aid is through the Colombo plan. , The officers elected with Rev, R. Presbyterian Mission Band The regular meeting of the Presby­ terian Mission Band was held on Sat­ urday afternoon with twenty-five in attendance. Elaine Kirton, the presi­ dent, opened the meeting and all joined in singing a hymn. Margaret Paulin led in prayer. The Scripture reading was read by Gale Kirton. Mrs. Mundell led in a discussion of the Scripture passage which told of the Christmas story. Carol Greig, the secretary, read the minutes and Ken­ neth Grant gave the treasurer’s re­ port. The roll call was answered by naming a book in the Bible. Doris Paulin collected the offering with < Phyllis Grant giving the offertory prayer. Mrs. Mundell then presided and conducted the business. Practice for the Christmas entertainment replaced the regular story period. Honor Newlyweds On Thursday evening a party was held in the Community Hall in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Timm, re­ cently married. A purse of money was presented. A .dance followed the prer sentation. There was a large attend­ ance of neighbours and friends. First Euchre Party The first euchre party of the sea­ son sponsored by the W°men’s In­ stitute, was held in the Community Hall on Friday evening. Owing to other events in the neighbourhood, the attendance was not as large as usual. High prizes were won by Mrs. Neth- ery, of Belgrave, and Mr. Greig, of Belgrave; consolation prizes, Mrs. Gordon Hastie and' Mr. Oliver Camp­ bell, birthday prize, Mr. Dougal Stra­ chan; Aid Hurricane Relief Rev. R. A. Brook has forwarded $92 to the Hurricane Relief Fund from members of Whitechurch and Bluevale United Church congregations and other friends. Thankoffering Service The Presbyterian W. M. S. held its sfall Thankoffering service in the Church on Sunday evening, December 5th. The president, • Mrs, Eldred Nichol, presided. Mrs. Harvey Robertson and Mrs. Bernard Thomas assisted in the service. Mrs. Gordon Greig sang with Oliver Moffatt accompanying. The speaker was the minister, Maurice McNab, who chose a sionary theme using the text, have found the Messiahs.” Personals Mr. and Mrs. Donald Street children, of Listowel, were Sunday visitors with Mrs. M. L. Aitken. Mrs. Stanley Darling apd Mrs. George Darling attended the funeral service for Mr, Frank Hobein, in Guelph, last week. Mr. George Newton "of Aljidmay, is visiting his daughter, Mrs. Stanley Darling. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grubbe attend­ ed the funeral of the former’s father, Mr, Philip Grubbe, of Greenock, The funeral service was held in Formosa Roman Catholic Church, with inter­ ment in Formosa cemetery, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
