Homing Instinct
Wonders \Vill never cease. Mr. Aldin
Purdon had a pair of five-month-old
calves that were raised on the moth
ers this summer on his farm here,
and when the snow came, he moved
the mothers and calves to Amos Cor
nelius’s barn for-the winter. Last
week one day he loaded the two calv
es-and took them in a trailer, covered
with a tarp, to the Dawson farm on
the 2nd. of Kinloss, in order to wean
them from their mothers.
What was his surprise, when' he
went to chore at the Cornelius barn
the next morning, to find that one
little fellow had jumped over the
fence at the Dawson barn, made its
way back to the Cornelius barn dur
ing the night and was waiting at the
stable door to be let in to its mother.
But only one made the return trip of
about three miles with three turns in
the road, and two strange lanes. Did
anyone see the lone traveller?
