SACRED HEART 1,1'11 ELECTS NEW OFFICERS Sacred Heart C.Y.O. at their meeting Sunday evening, Sept, 19, in the parish hall, elected officers for the coming season. ■ Alex Sproal presided over the meet­ ing. During the business, $70.00' was voted to the Altar Society who as­ sisted the C.Y.O. at their booth at the town park during the anniversary. Dis­ cussion was also held regarding a dis­ trict C.Y.O. social early in October with neighbouring parishes to be in­ vited. Retiring president Alex Sproal and his executive were moved a hearty vote of thanks for their fine efforts during the past year. The following were elected to of­ fice: Spiritual director, Rev. R. Bride, Mrs. G, Richards and Mrs. S. Johnston being the committee to look after this. It was also decided that the Institute would sponsor a booth. The study on Saskatchewan was taken by Mrs. Clare Harris. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. Bert Winston, who told of their trip to California, which was most inter­ esting. She told the members of vis­ iting the place where zinnia seeds are grown and of one grower who had 10 acres of zinnias and the different colors were one mile apart. She took the members to Christmas Tree Lane in Fresno, which she described as be­ ing completely beautiful with its 8,000 lights and the Babe in the manger. Lunch, was served by Mrs. Fred Hambly, Mrs. W. Cooper, Mrs. W. Har­ grave and Mrs. I- Witmer. Personals Visitors on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Patterson were Mr. and Mrs. George Wipp and Paul, of Galt, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Campbell. ' Mrs. Trev. Hainstock and Joan, of Milton, spent the week-end here with relatives. Mrs. Elizabeth Hainstock returned home with them and will visit this week at Milton and Hamil­ ton. Mrs. Evelyn Fallis is spending this yveek at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ferguson at Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Wray Cooper, Marylin and Elizabeth Anne and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Doig enjoyed a motor trip to Quebec City last week. Miss Marian Doig attended a wed­ ding in Walkerton on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Horsburg spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Boyle in Collingwood.
