Saw Stratford Play
Thirty-three members of the Wo

travelled by bus to Stratford to enjoy
“The Taming of the Shrew". It was
fun from beginning to end, and such
hilarious fun! The players gambolled
about as if on springs and the action
was swift and buoyant. Francis Hy

Bianca, deserves special mention.
After the play a picnic in the park
was enjoyed by the bus travellers.

THE VOICE OF TEMPERANCE
“The bottle club, now an accepted
institution in Huron and Perth, makes
a farce out of our out-dated Canada
Temperance Act." We quote from a
recent editorial in a Huron County
Weekly. “In a recorded vote, which
Was unanimous, a permit to build a
$10,000 social club building on the west
side of Erie St,, Clinton, was turned
down by the Clinton Town CCuficil on
Monday, night. The so-called 'club' was
described as a club where citizens
aged 21 or over could join and play
cards, or if patrons so desired, the
club coiild supply and control liquor
and beer for thdm”, A recent news
item. Ohe Huron town council Very
evidently does not accept the bottle
club as a desirable institution. The
council rightly interpreted the feeling
of Clinton citizens, How many such
liquor clubs in Huron are listed
amongst the plehsknt social clubs In

surprising hoW frequently these clubs
run fotil of the law. OUr Crown At

liquor. Liquor cannot legally be sold
in Huron County, even in a bottle club,
