Miss Elaine Demerling left on Mon­ day for London, where she has taken a position in the registry office. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Coates are spend­ ing this week in Bayfield. Miss Ellen Cober spent last week with relatives at Gormley. Mr. Earl Ridley, of London, spent the week-end at his home here. Miss Sharon O’Brecht, of Mimico, The regular meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Howick Legion was held in the Legion Rooms last week with the president opening the meet­ ing in the usual manner, After the business was taken care of a committee was chosen to look after the details for a float to be entered at the Fordwich Centennial on August' 7th. The mystery prize, donated by Comrade Doig, was won by Comrade Moore, also a special was won by Comrade Horsburg. Before closing the meeting the presi­ dent was presented with a lovely gift, on the occasion of her recent marriage and she thanked the ladies for their kind thoughts and wishes. Mrs. Wil­ liam Sothern read the address. The meeting then closed and the Legion members joined the ladies in a social half hour. Schuett & Sons MILDMAY TRADE- INS ACCEPTED FREE DELIVERY Westfield Resident, Winnifred Campbell Dies in Clinton A life long resident of the commun­ ity in the person of Miss Winnifred Campbell passed away Monday, July 19th in Clinton Public Hospital where she had been a patient for some time. She was in her 49th year. The late Winnifred Campbell was born on the 5th concession of East Wawanosh, on the farm now occu­ pied bell, 1928. Mrs. Frank Campbell. For many years she'was Westfield correspondent of the Advance-Times until this spring when she gave up the work because of ill health. She leaves to mourn her loss, her mother and two brothers Howard and Douglas both of the 5th concession of East Wawanosh, also one niece, ten nephews and one great nephew. The funeral service was held on Thursday at 2.30 p.m. from the family residence. The Rev. C. C. Washing­ ton conducted the service and the Rev. G. I. Beach gave the message, taking his text from Hebrews 11 chap­ ter 16 verse. During the service Mrs. Donald Snell sang a solo “The Pearly White City”. The pallbearers were four nephews, Victor Campbell, of Kitchener, Cecil Campbell, of Exeter, Franklin Camp­ bell and Lawrence Campbell, of West­ field and two cousins, George Brown of Ruscomb and Gladwyn Hooper of St. Marys. The many beautiful floral tributes were borne by Donald Stonehouse of Guelph, Art Speigburg, Norman Mc­ Dowell, Arnold Cook, Jasper Snell, Alvin Snell. Friends were present from Comber, Ruscomb, St. Thomas, Guelph, Gode­ rich, Listowel, St. Marys, Tilbury, Clinton, Londesboro and Anderson, U.S.A. Mr. Listowel, and Mrs. Courtney Holmes, Jane and Robert of Hantsport, N.S., visited with Mr., and Mrs. Edgar Wightman and family and with Mr. and Mrs. James Walsh and family on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Procter of Ft. Francis, are spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Procter, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dunbar have returned home after spending the past six weeks on a motor trip through Western Canada. Margaret, Anne, Ross and John Wightman spent a few days visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Mathers and family at Bluevale. Mr. and Mrs. G. Cruickshank and family, of Wingham, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wade. Mr. Ernest Wallace, Peola, Penn., visited with Mrs. Cora McGill last week.
