Successful Ficnic
Quite a successful picnic was held
by the Presbyterian Sunday School, in
Listowel Park on Friday afternoon,
This park is an ideal place for a picnic and the day was fine. This fact re
suited in a, smaller attendance than
sometimes, as haying was still jn
progress on many farms, but the
children were out in full force.
While the older children enjoyed a
game of ball, the smaller ones kept
the swings, slides and wading pool
busy.
Later races of all kinds were featured, and when this was over, every
one was seated around the long tables
under the trees and did justice to an
ample picnic lunch.
Women’s Institute
The July meeting of the Women’s
Institute was held in the Community
Hall last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.
Elliott, president, was in the chair and
Mrs. Reuben Appleby, health conven
er had charge of the program. There were 23 ladies and 10 children present.
The roll call was answered by- verses
on health, each beginning with a let- i
ter of the alphabet and each verse
read in that order. The Glcnannan
school children favored with two numbers, “The Jolly Miller’ and "The
Blacksmith” both well rendered with
out music. Billy Jeffery sang his.prize
winning song “The Little Prince.’’
Shirley Baird gave a reading “Mary’s Cold" and .Donald Eadie gave one on
“Posture,” Mrs. Appleby gave a
thoughtful reading “In the Morning
Make Thy Seed to Flourish”.
The guest of the afternoon was Mr.
W, J, Freeman of Teeswater, who gave recordings taken at the famous
Health Clinics in St. Petersburg, Florida, last winter, One was “Food Facts
and Fallacies”, the other on “Arth
ritis”, These were much enjoyed and
the ladies gave him a hearty vote of
thanks for this kindly service.A delicious.lunch was served by the
hostesses, Mrs. T. Abraham, Mrs. A.
Fitch, Mrs. C. Fitch, Mrs. K. Jackson, Mrs. H. Gowdy, Mrs, W. Merkley, Mrs. E. Merkley and Mrs. D, Eadie.
During lunch Mr. Freeman played
recordings of sing-songs at the beach
in St. Petersburg and these were much
enjoyed.

of Teeswater, last Saturday after
noon.
It is a hundred years since the Mac^- Donaid farm was taken up as Crown

ever since.
