The hall was attractively decorated with flags and bunting by the teach­ ers and pupils. Mr* A. MacDonald, principal of Gor- rie school, was chairman and present­ ed corsages to the music teacher, Mrs. Carl Douglas and accompanist, Mrs. W. King, on behalf of the teachers. The program consisted of unison choirs by senior and junior pupils; boys’ and girls' choirs; two part can­ on and descant; a skit by Gorrie sen­ ior room *A Change of Heart”, Dutch dance by pupils of No. 4, Mrs. Ross Gray, teacher; rhythm band, Gorrie juniors, Mrs. R. MacDonald, teacher; spring game, No. 18, Mrs. S. Donaldson, teacher. Tap dancing by Misses Stewart and Stokes, of No. 4, was interspersed with the singing and provided colorful en­ tertainment, The pupils and teachers are to be congratulated on a fine ev­ ening’s performance. C. G. I. T* The Canadian Girls in Training held their meeting at the home of Marie Hastie on May 17. The meeting opened with purpose and nine mem­ bers were present. The business was discussed and it was planned to have a wiener roast in the community park on Monday, May 31st. A delicious lunch was served and the meeting closed with taps. H. O’Neil and Terry, Tor­ onto, and Mrs. Elwood Hoe, Atwood, sailed on the Empress of Scotland, for Great Britain. They will join the Rev, Dr. A. H. O'Neil who has been in Eng­ land and Scotland for the past month, as the Canadian speaker for the 150th anniversary of the British and Foreign Bible Society. During the next month they will be touring the Continent, where Dr. O’Neil will speak and re­ view the work of the Bible Society. - Graduates from University At the University of Toronto com­ mencement on Thursday, George Gregg will receive his honour arts de­ gree in Latin and French. He will be Toronto’s only Latin and French grad­ uate this year. Mrs, C. E. Gregg and Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Hueston will at­ tend the graduation exercises, We join in extending the hearts" congra­ tulations of all to George on his suc­ cess in this difficult course. UNITED CHURCH NEWS Woman’s Association Citizenship was the theme of the Woman’s Association meeting in the church on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. W. Strong was leader for Group 1, Mrs. M. Irwin gave a reading on ’Tn- fluence”. The Scripture was taken from Galatians 5: 19-26 6: 1-4, by Mrs. W. Dane. "To Be a Good Citizen” was read by Mrs. T. Edgar. The topic "Christian Citizenship” was given by Mrs, Gordon Edgar. Mrs. Strong of­ fered prayer and Mrs. W. Trimble gave a reading on “The Life We Live Today”. In the absence of the presi­ dent, Mrs, Gordon Edgar had charge of the business period. The minutes and treasurer’s report were given. ,It was decided to hold a garden party on June 9th. The meeting closed with the theme prayer. Lunch was served by Mrs. Irwin, Mrs. T. Edgar, Mrs. C. Michel and Mrs. A, Dustow. Friendly Fours The Friendly Fours will meet at the home of Mrs. Albert Dustow on Thursday evening. The tea and bake sale sponsored by the group on Sat­ urday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Andy Edgar was quite a success. Personals Mr. T. L. Mclnnes was a delegate to the L. O. L. Grand Lodge at Niag­ ara last week, from the Huron Co. Lodge, of which he is master this year. Miss Irla Newton, of Alliston, spent the week-end and holiday at her home. Mr. Jas. Graham and Alex, were holiday visitors with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Fullerton visited with Mrs. F. C. Taylor and with Miss Etta Burns on Sunday. Mr. Sandy Hastie, Arlene and San­ dra, spent the week-end with Mr. and and Mrs. Ken Hastie. Mrs. Jean MacDonald, of London, visited relatives over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Earl King, Mr. and Cloyne Michel, and Mr. and Mrs. Lion­ el Johnston spent a few days the first of the week in Detroit. Miss Eleanore Carson was home from Toronto for the holiday and week-end. Mr. Elmer Hill and Miss Gladys Rodell, of Kitchener, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom McClem- ent. Mr, and Mrs. Blake Broad and Elaine, of Lansing, Ontario, were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Feigel. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grainger, Gregg and Janet, of Wallaceburg, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Grainger. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Hyndman spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cass Thompson, Harriston, .
