their annual competition shoot last
week for the Tom Allen Trophy for
, the high aggregaate, and the Ellwood
Epps Trophy for the handicap shoot,
in the gun room of the Epps Sport
Shop. Elwood Epps qualified as the
winner of both cups, shooting a per
fect score, but only one cup can be
won by a member. Fred Sandy, of
Goderich, qualified for the handicap
trophy, with a scarp of 97,

Mrs. James Sanderson and Mrs.
Ken Edgar arranged the meeting of
the Women’s . Missionary Society,
which was held at the home of Mrs.
Gilbert Howes on Friday evening.
Twenty-two members and visitors
answered the roll call, “A Mother of
the Bible”. Mrs. Sanderson presided
and spoke on the theme, “Christian
Family Week”. Her address included
choice verse from Longfellow, also
“Flowers for Mother” and “Home
Serene” from the writings of Edgar
Guest. Mrs, Edgar followed with fine
thoughts on “Mother and the Home”.
Mrs. Harvey Timm told a story entit
led, “Her Medal”. Mrs. Mervyn Grain
ger read the Scripture lesson and
Mrs. W. G. Gibson led in prayer. Rev.
E. W. Todd reviewed the final chap
ters of the study book.
President Mrs. D, S. MacNaughton
presided over the business, Mrs. J. H.
Wylie presented the minutes and
correspondence and Mrs. Gilbert How
es the treasurer’s report. A vote of
thanks was tendered all those who
had taken part as well as Mrs. Howes
for the loan of her home. A social
hour followed, when the Hostess was
assisted by Mrs. Wylie and Mrs.
George Bradley.
“A Queen IS Crowned”
The Wroxeter Women’s Institute
will sponsor a showing of the film
“A Queen Is Crowned” in the town
hall on the evening of May 28th, at
8.15. Two short films will also be
shown to make a full evening’s enter-
tainment. There will be no admission
charge but ft silver collection will be
taken to defray expenses. A special
invitation is extended to all school
pupils in the district. Mrs. J. H. Wylie
and Mrs. D. S, MacNaughton are in
charge of arrangements.
East Huron District annual meeting
of Women’s Institutes will be held in
Molesworth Presbyterian Church on
May 26th, at 10 a.m. Miss Hamilton,
of the Women’s Institute Branch, will
speak. The executive met recently and

tute hold their June meeting on Wed

Gorrie, spent an afternoon last week
with their friends of St, James’ Guild,
when an afternoon of quilting was
enjoyed. At the close of the afternoon
Mrs. George Griffith and Mrs. Vern
Clarke served refreshments.

lege, will have charge pf the parish
of Fordwich, Gorrie and Wroxeter,
Anglican Churches for the summer
months, and with his wife will take
up residence in Gorrie rectory,
Bill Hart, Barrie, spent the week
end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Hart.
Bruce Edgar, Brussels, who was ser
iously injured of the three boys in
way 87, near Fordwich, during the
week-end, is a son of Mrs. Edgar and
the late Murdie Edgar. Barry was a
passenger in a car driven by Wilfred
Willis, Brussels. He is a patient in
Palmerston hospital and is the most
eriously injured of the three boys in
the car. The car was a complete loss.
Pupils of the senior room, Wroxeter
public school, joined with others on
Friday on a trip to Niagara Fails. Two
train loads of children and their tea
chers enjoyed the outing in perfect
weather. They returned home tired,
but report a wonderful trip.
The annual vacation school will be
held in this village, July 5 to 9th. This

in charge, with several assistants.
The Tyro boys’ and the girls’ group,
United Church, which has been active
for some months, held their final
meeting for the season, at which re-
freshments were served. Through the
season both groups have enjoyed re
creation, devotional, craft work and
pictures. Some of the children made
toy animals, waste paper baskets, and
other attractive articles. Both groups
plan to open again in the autumn.
