An operating surplus of $2,413 for
19153 was reported by Merton A. Reid,
Chairman of the finance committee of
Scott Memorial Hospital Board, at its
annual meeting in Seaforth last week.
£ Encouraging reports were given by

RAISE AGE LIMIT
IN KINDERGARTEN
Hanover Public School Board decided to rajse the minimum age for en
tering kindergarten this fall, owing
to the large numbers of children who
are expected to register.
A child will have to be five years
old by September 30 this year to start
kindergarten this September,

The community hall at Fordwich
wag filled to capacity last Thursday
night, when friends and neighbors
gathered to honor Mr. and Mrs. Ron
ald Massey (nee Jean Wallace). They
were presented with a chrome kitchen
suite, end table an^lamp. The address

Health League of Canada takes par

international committee on occupat
ional health. Advisory committees,
representing several nations and
mainly comprising industrial health
leaders, are now in the process of be

The Health League Committee, un
der the chairmanship of Dr. Harrison
Waddington of Toronto, has special
ized in occupational health problems
in Canada Collecting information fr,om
industrial health authorities and dis
seminating facts to industries and in
terested laymen through bulletins,
promotional material and the maga
zine “Health.” A number of indust-
tries have enrolled their personnels in
the Health League under an industrial

The tax dollar, paid by Canadians to the federal government1,
is divided, according to the new budget presented by Finance Min
ister Abbott, as shown above. Defence still takes a huge slice out
of all expenditures and Mr. Abbott gave little hope of a decrease
in that direction. By decreasing taxes on several items, total rev
enue collected by the government next year is estimated to be
$40,000,000 less than this year’s receipts.
