Leon Errol Comedy” “Traveltalk” Novelty Subject” The regular monthly meeting of the East Wawanosh Unit of the Feder­ ation of Agriculture was held last week, at the home of Mr. Alex Rob­ ertson, director for school section S. S. No. 11. There were 13 members in attend- ance. This included the executive as well as the directors. The Township Unit consists of 15 directors and 3 executive members. The first part of the meeting was spnt in discussing the Farm Forum Broadcast, which is heard over CBL each Monday evening from 8 to 8.30 p.m, All farm' people should listen to these programs and hear discussed problems ’winch vital ly concern farm people i After the discussion period, the pres­ ident, Mr. H, L. Sturdy took the chair and proceeded with the business for the evening. One of the main issues discussed in the business meeting, had to do with the Municipal Doctor System. Very shortly each section will be canvassed by its director, with -a resolution, requesting that our gov­ ernment pass such legislation that will permit the practice of the Municipal Doctor System in rural municipalities. The directors will discuss the ques­ tion with the citizens and give information they have at their posal. Mrs. Lorne Woods was a week-end visitoi' at Kitchener. The weekly meeting of the Y. p, V. was held at Durnin I’hillips on Monday evening. Isabel Miller read the Scripture lesson and Mrs. Me- Murachy and Mr. E. W. Rice con­ tributed a duet, The topic "Engaging Life” was taken by Mr. Stanley Todd who also’ led the discussion. Mrs. Tom Todd, Mr, and Mrs. D. Phillips and Mr, W. A. Miller, were appointed a nominating committee foi* the new of­ ficers. Miss Laurene Miller of the Wing­ ham Hospital staff spent the week-end at her home here, Plan to attend the School Concert, in the community hall on Friday night. The president, Miss Jean Elliott presided. The rool was answered by naming a favorite Christmas Carol and your reason for naming it. Silent Night was ip the majority. Miss Curtis read a Christ­ mas peom as an introduction to the program which she and Mrs. Wick- stead had arranged. Mrs. Bert Mann read the story of King Wencesless and Mrs. Earl Hamilton gave a paper on “Christmas 1941” dealing with the present world conditions. Carol sing­ ing was enjoyed with Mrs. W. J. Johnston at the piano. A special offering was taken at the meeting for the Central War Char­ ities Fund to purchase Blankets, for Britain. A canvass was made in the village and collection boxes in public places. The Willing Workers in Turn­ berry donated the sum of $4.00. The amount forwarded to- the fund $26.25. The annual donations Christmas boxes was received. At the close of the meeting hostess served refreshments, : Wickstead and Miss Margaret Curtis arranged the program. The wives and husbands of the play­ ers were guests making about twenty present. The play was presented a great many times and this social func­ tion proved a very happy climax. Young People Met The Y. P. U. of the United Church held the ^regular weekly meeting in the Sunday School room on Friday evening. Fleming Johnston presided, and conducted the opening devotional exercises and Mrs. Bert Nlartn had charge of the topic. <. Mrs. Joseph Breckenridge leaves for Blyth this week, where she will spend the winter wsith her daughter, Mrs. Taman. Lucknow Minister To Preach Services in Knox Presbyterian Church were ^withdrawn last Sunday on account of the minister, Rev. F, G. Fowler not enjoying his usual good health. Next Sunday, Rev. Mr, Mc­ Connell of Lucknow will conduct Christmas services ] at Blue vale and Eadies.
