Mrs. Ezra Welwood spent the week-end at Caledon with Mr, and Mrs. Elgin Welwood. Mrs. Aldin Purdon went through a serious operation in Wingham Hos­ pital on Friday, and although she has been very ill, her condition is stead­ ily improving. On Tuesday evening, under the lea­ dership. of Rev. J. Pollock, the follow­ ing officers were appointed to have charge of the Red Cross Society in Whitechurch community: Pres., Mrs. J. Pollock; Vice Pres., Mrs. J. A. Kennedy; Sec., Mrs, Albert Coultes; Treas., Mr. James Wilson; Campaign Manager, Mr. Fred Newman, and Convenors of the work committees, Mrs. Grain and Mrs. J. G. Gillespie. Mr, and Mrs. Albert Goyeau, Earle and Vera, of ’Leamington, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Goyeau, of Detroit, and Mr. Harold Goyeau, of Wind­ sor, spent the week-end at the home of Mr, Aldin ' Purdon, having been called on account of their daughter’s. illness. Mrs. Frank Henry and Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm > Green, of Waterloo, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Will tlenry and Wingham relatives. Miss Agnes Wilson, R.N., of St. Thomas, spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Jas. Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Phillips and Neil Jr., of Dundalk, spent Wednesday last at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Ross. iMiss Jean Coulter, R.N., of Lon­ don Hospital staff, spent the week­ end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Coulter. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Cornelius spent" Sunday at the home of her sister, Mrs Tas. Hueston, of Walton. Mr. and Mrs. J. Snowden are visit­ ing for a few days with his mother and other relatives around Laurel and Orangeville. The regular monthly meeting of the. He was the last of a family of five children of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Lever of E. Wawanosh. Over forty-eight years ago he.married An­ nie Milner, who predeceased him in May. He has not had good health for the past year. Two children survive him, Charlie at home and Miss Am-' elia at London. Mr. and Mrs, James St. Marie Grimsby, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr, and Mrs, St. Marie, and Miss Cecelia St. Marie is returning home from Wingham Hospital this week. Mrs. ^Fleming,, who has spent the past two montlis-with her sister, Mrs. Bert Thompson and her brothers, Jas. and Chas. Martin and other relatives is leaving on Thursday for her home in Hamilton, N. Dakota. Mr. Donald Finlayson of Ldchalsh, and his son, John, Holyrood, visited on Saturday with his aunt, Mrs, Jas. MacGregor. The regular weekly meeting of the Young People’s society^of the Presby­ terian Church was in charge of Miss Velma Scott who gave the Call to Worship. Alec Robertson read the scripture lesson and Mrs. Rhys Poll­ ock led in prayer,' Miss Hazel Mc- Burney gave a talk on “Thinking it over” during the meditation period, and the society decided to invite Rev. Mr, Kerr of Brussels to come at a date convenient to him and show his slides on the British Isles. • The topic was taken by Mrs. Robt. Mr. Clarence Mc- j Clenaghan gave the talk, “Crusading for Christ”, and Mrs. Sparling, Mrs. Falconer and Agnes Gillespie led in prayer. The leader then read verses of a Pslam and each one was respond­ ed to by singing a verse of “O Jesus I have promised to serve Thee to the end”. Miss Genevire Watt gave a reading, “A Handful of Clay”, and Mrs. H.
