Miss Lila Emerson, of Wingham and Mrs. John Haggitt, of Blyth, spent the week-end with their mother, Mrs. A, Emerson, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Sutherland, of Wingham, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Henry McGee. Miss Bertha Mackay, of Toronto, is holidaying at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Mackay. Miss Olive Farrier, whose applica­ tion has been accepted by the Board of Education of the Toronto schools, has tendered her resignation to the trustees of her school in E. Wawa­ nosh. Large congregations were ^present at the Jubilee Service in the Presby­ terian Church here on Sunday when Rev. Dr. Jas. Wilson, a retired min­ ister, of Toronto, preached very im­ pressive sermons. In the morning an old time service was held, when the service of song was led by Mr. Mac­ Donald of S. Kinloss church. Mr. MacDonald has held the position of precentor there for 54 years. .The congregation sat while singing and stood for the prayer services, and the old time boxes with long handles at­ tached served to gather the offering. In the evening the choir rendered a special anthem, while Gordon Leggatt, of Wingham, sang a solo and Mr. and Mrs. John McGee sang a duet. While in this community Dr. Wilson was the guest of his niece, Miss Josephine Mc­ Allister and David McAllister/ of St. Augustine. The congregation are holding an old-time tea-meeting this Wednesday evening, when supper will be served and a splendid program will be given. Quite a number who had attended the first service seventy-five years ago were present on Sunday. This community extends sympathy to Mr. Peter Leaver, Amelia and Charlie. Miss Margayet Murphey of Inger- sol, sp’ent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robt.. Mowbray. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Robertson left on Tuesday for Sarnia where they will take the boat for Fort William and hence on to the coast. They will also visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jas.. Robert­ son, of Seattle and attend the San Francisco Exhibition, returning by Chicago. They purpose being, away for the next six months, and fins.. com­ munity joins in wishing them a. pleas­ ant trip and safe return. McK. Pat­ erson. Miss Fanny Paterson, who- is employed in the Toronto Post Office, had the misfortune to fall- and break her arm and will have it in a cast for two months. Miss Lillian Browning and Mr.. Er­ nest Sparling, of Kincardine, visited one day last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lott. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Love,, of Goder­ ich, spent Wednesday las-t at the home of her sister, Mrs. Amos Cor­ nelius. Mr. George Garton St; and Mr; and Mrs. George Garton and children spent the week-end at' Kitchener at the home of the former’s daughter, Mrs. Arthur Holland. Mrs. Jos. Holmes returned to her home here on Sunday from Hamilton where she had spent some months with her sister, Mrs. Gavin Middle­ tom (Mr. and Mrs. Will Middleton ac­ companied her here. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clarke of Am- hcrstburg, spent the week-dnd here with her father, Mr. Robert Carrick, and stayed -until Tuesday to attend the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Peter Leaver. Mor­ ris, on Friday, it being the occasion of his 80th birthday. A family din­ ner party was enjoped and Mr. Sou-ch was presented with a radio. Mr. Souch has four daughters and one son residing in this neighborhood and two sons and one daughter in the Canad­ ian West. Mr. Souch enjoys good health.
