Mrs. Tom Kooy was in the chair. After the reports were read a gift of ten dollars was voted to Miss Powell of Japan, prayer partner of the group and also to South Huron Hospital. Exeter. Mrs. H. Davis took, the chair for the election of officers for the coming year, Mrs. Harry Carroll was elected president; Mrs. D. Edgar Roulston, pas­ tor of the Clandeboye United Church, presided for the annual Christmas party held Wednesday evening in the Sunday School room. A program of Christmas songs and carols was given by the pu­ pils. Gifts were exchanged and each child received a bag of can­ dy. Mr. Roulston was assisted by the superintendent, Mr. Gordon Easton. Mrs. Win. Wilson returned home from South Huron Hospital, Exeter, after spending a week there. Messrs. Moore Cunningham and Ernie Lewis have been col­ lecting for donations towards a fund, for Mr. and Mrs. George Summers who lost all .their fur­ niture and household effects in a fire last Friday1 morning. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Eaton attended the funeral service of the late Mr. E, S. Abbott at the Needham funeral home in Lon­ don on Saterday, Interment tool} place at Aylmer. Mrs. Edsell Collins, a former resident ,but now a patient of the Craig, suffered a stroke recent­ ly but is improving. jMiss Betty McIntyre and pupils ! of S.S. No. 4 McGillivray held their Christmas concert Wednes­ day evening at the school with Mr Rea Neil as chairman. The variety program consisted of dia­ logues, drills, school songs and recitations. Assisting were Miss Grace Shanks of Parkhill, who played instrumental numbers, and Mr. i Harvey Rollings, who played ■' violin selections accompanied at the piano by his sister, Miss Shirley Rollings. . Following the program Santa Claus arrived in time to assist with the unloading of the Christ-' mas tree. Relatives Attend Service Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Simp­ son, Mr. John Simpson and Mrs. Emily Tomes attended t’-n fune­ ral service for Miss Kathryn Frances Wellwood, eldest daugh­ ter of Mr. and Mrs, Harold Frances Wellwood (former Mar­ jorie Hodgins) of New Hamburg, who passed away at Stratford General Hospital in her fifteenth year. The lucky winner of the eve­ ning was one of Lucan’s painters, Mr. Louie Lemieux, known to everyone as “Louie”, who not only won a $7 “Share the Wealth,” but also a big turkey. Mrs. Richard Davis won the other “Share the Wealth”—$8.50. •Other turkey winners were Mr. Jim Young', Mrs. B. Nagle, Mr. R. . E. Pitt, .Mr. Wilfred Dickson, Mrs. A. E. Reilly, Mrs. A. E. Little Carole Davis pulled Mr. A. W. Bromwich’s name for the big turkey draw. Cutting Trees Husband Dies The many friends of the former Mrs. C. Meier (mother of Mrs. E. R. Bridger, Beech St.) were shocked to hear of her recent tragedy. On October 22, not two months ago, she married Mr. Percival Wisbey of R.R. 2 Lam­ beth but did not give up her London position. Mr. and Mrs. Wisbey lived on a small farm near Lambeth. Last Thursday evening when the latter came home she found the house in darkness. On finding the car in the garage she be­ gan looking around and found her husband dead on the ground near the barn, where he had been lying for several hours. It seems that Mr. Wisbey had been cutting Christmas trees and died of a heart attack. He was 60 years of age. Pot Luck Supper Holy Trinity Church held their annual pot luck supper and'Sun­ day School concert last Wednes­ day night. So great was the turn- oupt that extra tables had to be set up. After all had enjoyed a bountiful ikeal they moved from the basement to the. Parish Hall for community singing. While waiting for the ladies to finish up downstairs, Rev. J. P. Prost and Mr. Fl Hovey strip­ ped the Christmas tree and all was excitement. Just then a loud knock was heard at the door and In walked Santa Claus. Un­ fortunately he had other calls to make so couldn’t stay long. Then followed some films on the new projector before the children’s program began. The latter was in charge of Miss Lina Abbott.
