Mr. Allen Tindall, Exeter, Miss Rowena Abbott, Lucan and Miss Margaret Bertram of Exeter were guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carroll. Miss Bertram was observing a birth day. Miss Alexia Davis, Exeter, and Mr. Robt. Church basement to some 70 members and friends of the Dashwood Band. Sid Baker, president, was chair man and extended a welcome to all. Other speakers were Harry Hoffman, leader, and Stuart Wolfe, assistant, Gerald Martene and Carol Becker. Mr. arid Mrs. Andrew Dixon, of Exeter, showed pictures of their recent trip to the British Isles. Jack Gaiser showed pictures of local interest. Beckei' attended the county coun cil meeting at Goderich this week. 4-H Club Meeting The Dashwood 4-H girls held their second meeting and decided to call Their club “Dashwood Dainty Doers.” A,copy of the 4-H pledge was given each girl. This will be used at the beginning of .each meeting. June Rader was appointed press reporter. The girls were shown how to sanforize thejr material and how to make a flat felled seam. Home assignment is to prepare materials and pin on the pattern. Roll call for next meeting “A finish I will use on my sleeping garment.” Social Evening The Youth Fellowship of the E.U.B. Church entertained the Walther League of Zion Lutheran Church as their guests at a so cial evening. Ruth Schade pre sided. Ronnie Snell sang a solo and Donna Eagleson and Mona Kellerman, a duet. Jack Schade and Stanley Hoist read passages of Scripture. Ruth Schade gave a meditation on “The Lord’s Pray er.” Jack Gaiser was chairman for the recreation. A relay and croki- nole was enjoyed. Winners were Barbara Koehler and Jack Schade; consolation, Marion Ra der and Peter Irwin. Miss Pau line Becker thanked the Y.F. on behalf of the league. Mrs, Fred Hamilton of Pres ton is spending the weekend at her home in Kirkton and visiting Mr. Hamilton, a patient in West minster Hospital, London. Mrs. R. Humphreys is under the doctor’s care. Mrs. Carl Mills and Gwen spent a part of last week with her. Mrs. Ed Atthill has been hol idaying at Petawawa and Tor onto this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Snider and family of Waterloo visited Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Burns Blackler. Anglican Y.P.U, The Anglican Young People’s Association met on Monday ever ning in the church basement with 16 present. Eon Greig read the scripture passage. The eve ning was in the form of a work night. Games were played. Observe Book Week The Kirkton Library observed Young Canada Book Week. Owing to’ the small space in the Li brary it was held in the Aber deen Hall. Seventeen schools were invited,' fifteen accepting the invitation. They were from the townships of TJsborne, Blan- shard, Fullarton and Hibbert. Each school registered, then viewed the display of new books bought for the Library, some of the older books and also some Huron County books. Each school heard a half hour story told by Rev. W. H. Pike, Mrs. Pike, Mrs.- Clayton Colquhoun, Mrs. Gerald Paul and Mrs. Ken Lang ford. The Library board held open house in the Library Thursday evening.
