No. 1 with, represent­ atives from Stephen, Usborne, Tuckersmith, Stanley and God­ erich township boards. Chairman Ross Forrest intro­ duced Rev. N. McLeod of Kip­ pen who discussed the ways and means of teaching religious ed­ ucation in the phblic schools. Andrew D i x o n, agriculture teacher of South Huron District High School, discussed various methods of instruction. He point­ ed out the fundamentals of a good teacher and how he had tried to practise these methods. A panel consisting of Inspec­tors Goman and Gardiner, Wm. McRoberts and Delmer Skinner led in a discussion of various problems pertaining to school boards. Mountsfield is a new, modern twenty-room school. Mrs. Des­ Jardine wil be in charge of of the- grade sevens there. " Birthday Party About 14 friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Becker for a birth­ day supper, in honor of their granddaughter, Diane Becker’s fifth birthday. The evening was spent in games. Infant Baptized Janet Elaine, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Datars, of Grand Bend, was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church, Dash­ wood, on Sunday morning by Rev. K. Zorn. Howard Datars Ladies Aid The Ladies’ _ — „ Lutheran Church held their regu­ lar meeting on Wednesday as a missionary meeting. Rev. K. Zorn discussed . the topic, “Christ’s Holy People.” Mrs. Rudolph Miller sang a solo, and Mrs. Ken Keller gave a reading. Twenty-five dollars was voted for the “Concordia College Guild at Edmonton, Alberta.” It' was decided to buy a slide projector and screen. Group ’2 was in charge, The next meeting will be the annual meeting and Christmas party with an ex­ change of gifts. 4 Personal Items Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Wiedo and family, of Detroit/ spent the week-end with Mrs. Fred Schlundt and Mr. and Mrs. Vyrne Wiedo and Larry, Mrs. Art Willert suffered a stroke and is quite ill. Dunlop, minister of education for Ontario, and Hon. Mackinnon Phillips, minister of health, have announced that per­ iodic chest x-ray examinations will be’ required of all employees of school boards throughout the province. Elementary school inspectors, superintendents of public schools, directors of education, principals of secondary schools and secre­ taries of secondary school boards have been named as the officers to report to the minister of ed­ ucation. Each school board em­ ployee is to have a chest x-ray film taken, when directed to do so by his reporting official, with­ in each four-year period begin­ ning November 1, 1956,- The em­ ployee is to obtain from the ex­ amining agency an identification card which is to be retained and shown to the reporting official upon request of proof that he has met the requirements of the plan. Community chest x-ray sur­ veys operated by the Division of Tuberculosis Prevention of the Ontario Department of Health, the Gage Institute of tile National Sanatorium Association, and the Niagara District Sana­ torium are to be used when­ ever and whenever possible for the purposes of the program. Certain specific x-ray centres such as hospitals, sanatoria and chest clinics will be used where community surveys ' are not available. ’ Area Officer In UN Army Captain J, Grant Mills, M>D., of Calgary, son of Mr, and. Mrs. Ray Mills, Woodham, experts to sail this month for Egypt with the first contingent of the Queen's Own Regiment, which will •rep­ resent Canada- in the U.N. po­ lice force. He has been appointed medical officer for the contingent. Captain Mills was flown from Calgary to Halifax on. Monday and will sail on the H.M.C.S. Magnificent for Italy later this month. His wife and three children live in Calgary. The army of­ ficer is a graduate of U.W.O. Another district resident serv­ ing with the force is Lieutenant W. Maclver, Grand Bend. I '■■'I........
