Tom Hughes, Ilderton’s “Mr. Hockey”, had his Loys over for a practice this past week and predicts that this year his team will give the Irish Six a “hard time.” This comment provoked an amused bar—umph from Harvey Langford, along with the statement, that he’d been hearing that malarkey for over 20 years. Lou Ball’s Junior B Club is having regular workouts and are playing the Irish Six an exhibi­ tion gapie, Tuesday, October 30 at 8.30 p.m., at Lucan. This should -be worth taking in, London’s Sr, B is another team which is ^educing poundage with active work-outs at the arena. . Don’t forget the Hallowe’en Party, Wednesday nite, followed by a.dance. Rehearsals for the Colored Re­ view are in full swing with some 40 people in the cast. It will be presented the last week in Nov­ ember. A big field day is planned for this Friday at Lucan. Several public schols from the district are taking part, Explorers. The Lucan-Clandeboye Explor­ ers held tlieir nineteenth Ex­ pedition October 15 in the United Church school room with 28 members present arid one new member, Jean Schlueter. The Expedition was opened with a sing-song led by Counsellor Rose Revington and then Jeis were made. The third Expedition of the Lord’s Prayer was taken by Counsellor Kae Haskett. and the Explorers were divided into 4 groups, with each given scrip­ ture to read and questions to answer. ra,The Explorers will attend the evening service at Holy Trinity Youth Service, October'28. Raspberries In. October On Thursday, October 18, Mrs. Wes Hodgins, on looking out her window, noticed something red in her garden. Harvest Hom® Services The Lucan United Church cel­ ebrated its Harvest Home serv­ ices last Sunday with the Rev. E. J. Roulston preaching in the morning and the choir providing special music. In the evening the choir from Central United Church, S t. Thomas, led by Mr. Allan Har­ rington, provided an evening of music including three anthems, a tenor solo by Mr, J. H. Olde, a duet by Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Voaden, a violin selection by Miss Elaine Harrington, and a solo by Mrs. Earle Rawlings. Personal Items Messrs. He was in his 81st year. Mr. Heaman was born in Exe­ ter on November 12, 1875 and went to Virden in 1891. He was. married to the former Ellen El­ izabeth Sproat on December 14, 1904, They celebrated their gold­ en wedding anniversary two years ago. He is survived by his wife, seven sons, Edmund, Lawrence, Harold, George, Roy, Norman and Earle; two daughters, Ade­ line and Doreen; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Tapp and Mrs. Gor­ don Kempwood; two brothers, James and Joe. One son Ray­mond,' lost his life in World War’ II. Funeral Of €eafur Atkinson Funeral services were held at the Murdy funeral home, Lucan, on Friday for Ceafur Thomas Atkinson, conducted by the rec­ tor, Rev. J. P. Prest, of St, Pallbearers were Garnet Me- Falls and Gerald McFalls, of Exeter, Kenneth Carter, Arthur Simpson, Thomas Gilmour and Charlie Rollings. Interment was in St. James cerfetery, Clande­ boye.
