Irving Masonic Lodge was held in Lucan Memorial Centre last Wednesday evening with an attendance of nearly 300. ; C. B. Cldbert, Master of the1 lodge, welcomed the guests to i the tijrkey dinner served by the! ladies of Clandeboye United Church. Seated at the head table were Mr. Eli Simpson of Mt, Forest, the oldest living member of the lodge and Mr. Harry Lan­ kin, the oldest past master of the lodge. Entertainment was provided by James Millman of London. Prize winners included Mrs. Donald Laughton, Mrs. Jack Ready,. Mrs. Ivan Hern,._ Jack j Baynes and Mr. and Mrs. Ros­ coe Hodgins. Lionel Thornton’s orchestra provided music for dancing. Jeffus Ferguson Dies In Mishap Jeffus W. Ferguson, 69, of concession' 11, London Township was killed last Friday in a cax'- truck accident, north-east of Lu­ can at the intersection of the Centre sideroad and the Roman line, Mr, Ferguson had been visiting his daughter Mrs. Wil­ liam Sherwood 2-1 miles north­ east of Lucan. The truck driven by Thomas Weller, 37, of Lucan was travelling east on the Cen­ tre road when it collided with the Ferguson car south-bound. The truck received about $300 damage but its driver was un­ hurt. The 1953 model car was destroyed. The Murdy ambulance took the injured man to St. Jos­ eph’s Hospital but he was dead Jm arrival,- I Mr, Ferguson was a well- known London Township farmer. Ke was a son of the late Ed- Iward and Maria Ferguson and |was born in London Township. A. members present, Games were played on the church lawn while refreshments were prepared, Highlight of the afternoon was a’ candle-lighting service con­ ducted by Mrs. Jack Murdy as, the children presented their penny boxes. The collection amounted to $9.00. Children’s hymns- were sung by the little people and games led by Mrs. B. H. Elliott. Mrs. E. G. Mathe­ son entertained 35 of Miss Arm­ itage’s friends at her home. The guest of honor was presented with three pieces of steel cook­ ing equipment. Mrs, Jack Alles and Mrs. Lome Wilcox made the presentation. Bells, and pink and white streamers decorated the dining room where a buffet table was laid with a handmade lace cloth centred with pink and white asters and silver appointments. Mrs, Robert Wilcox poured tea and the hostess was assisted by Mrs. A. Graham, Mrs, Leo Mar­ tin and Mrs. Bennie Matheson. Hostesses for a personal show- ex' were Mrs, M. Markham and Mrs. Jack Alles at the home of the/former. Mrs. A, H. Fenwick and Mrs, IV. Halcrow,presented the gifts and Mrs. W. Parker read the accompanying verses. Mrs. Philip Irving and Mrs. Bi­ son MpLean assisted the host­ esses, Choir Members Honor Leader The Senior choir of the Lucan United Church held a pot-luck supper in the church parlors last Friday evening in honor of Mr, Percy Vahey, who for many years was choir leader. (Mr. and Mrs. Vahey recently moved to London,) Rev. and Mrs. E. M. Cook were home for the oc­ casion, During the evening Mr. Vahey was presented with a Bible.
