HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Exeter Times-Advocate, 1956-09-06, Page 5Hensall And District News Frank Mickle, 71 Grain Merchant Frank'Mickle, 71, who died in Victoria Hospital, Lbndon, on Friday, -August 31, was a life long resident of Ridgetown, and one of its most prominent busi­ nessmen. I He was a senior member of the ^^rfcrm of George T. Mickle and Ltd. grain and feed mer- chants, and was a member, and for many years chairman, of Ridgetown Public School Board. He was an elder of Erie Street United Church, and a member of Howard Masonic Lodge, His wife, the former Ellen Skinner, survives, also his mo­ ther, Mrs. Margaret Mickle, one son, George A, Ridgetown; one brother, Laird, Hensall; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Rhodes, Toledo, Ohio; and Mrs. Robert Stump, Alhambra, Califorhia. Services were held at the Mc- Xellar and McIntyre funeral home, Ridgetown, on Sunday September 2, with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Young officiating. Mrs. Laird Mickle and Ann have returned from Toronto after a visit Tjvith the former’s daugh­ ter, Miss. Betty Mickle. Visitors with Mrs. A. Blatch- ford were Mrs. Eleanor Glenn, Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hudson, St. Marys. Twenty Kin Attend Bride Nine brothers and 11 sisters will attend the wedding of Mon­ ica Masse, of Brampton, and Douglas .Moir, also of Brampton, formerly of Hensall, on Saturday, Sept, 8. The bride-elect is lhe daughter of Mr. and .Mrs. James Masse of Zurich, who have the distinc­ tion of having one of the largest families in Canada. Their child­ ren number 21. The wedding is planned for Saturday morning, September 8, in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Zurich, at 10 a.in. with the Rev. Fr. Poisson officiating. Miss Masse has chosen to at­ tend her at her wedding her sis­ ter, Mrs. Martha Deitrich, of St. Joseph, as matron of honor; Miss Betty Moir, London, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid, with. Miss Wendy Moir, of Grand Bend also a sister of the groom, as junior bridesmaid. Peter Mas­ se, Zurich, and Don Cowan, Exe­ ter, will be groomsmen. Brothers and sisters will attend from London, Toronto, Goderich, Brampton, Windsor, Dashwood, Pompano Beach, Florida, Zurich, St. Joseph. Misses Eleanor Venner and Bonnie Kyle returned home Sun­ day after spending a week's vaca­ tion with, relatives in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Shaddick were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. T. Flynn of Seaforth. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith and Danny, of Embro spent the week­ end holiday with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Petzke. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Mc- Creery, Sharon and Donna, have returned after spending a week holidaying in Listowel. Mrs. E. Johnston and family accompanied by Mrs. J. E. Mc­ Ewan, are enjoying a two weeks vacation at Pulnico, Nova Scotia. The trip was made by 'motor. Master Bobby Mickle spent a few days last week at the Robert Drysdale’s cottage with, Jerry.Mr. and Mrs. Jack Drysdale and Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Wein of Exeter left by motor on Mon­ day evening to attend ,the Kins­ men Convention at Jasper, Alta. They expect to be away three weeks. Mr. Wein is president of Exeter Kinsmen, and Jack Drys­ dale, first vice-president,of Hen­ sall Kinsmen. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Stretton and Peggy of Lucan, Mr. and. Mrs. John MacFarlane of Forest, spent the Labor Day holiday with Mrs. Minnie Sangster. Russel Pepper, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pepper, is in hospital, at St. Marys, with a broken back, several fractured, ribs, and a punctured lung, the result of a serious accident, when he fell It feet while working on a construc­ tion job at the St. Marys cement plant; last week. Mrs. Lloyd Noakes and six sons of London, spent the weekend with the former’s par­ ents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Noakes, and also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Seimon at their cottage at Turnbulls.
