The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1956-06-21, Page 11Usborne To Consider Increased Bridge Cost i Th* ThnMkAihw*^ Jun* 21, Usborne council recently post poned action on a request from’ the Ausable River Conservation Authority to increase the town ship’s share of the Morrison Dam cost from $15,000 to $18,000. The township originally assum ed the cost of constructing the roadway across the top of the i dam since this would eliminate need for a bridge which ^MRjuncil had planned to build on ^Fthe concession road. Under the original dam-bridge estimate of $140,000, the road ■portion was assessed at $15,000. This was based on the estimated cost of a bridge and the Depart ment of Highways agreed to Used Cars '54 CHEV SEDAN Light blue, all deked out. '53 PONTIAC HARDTOP Radio. '49 CHEV SEDAN Radio. When the revised cost figures on the dam increased by $30,000 to $170,000, the Authority decided to. ask the township to raise‘its contribution to $18,000. Council took .no action at its June meeting but the request will probably bo considered at the next meeting,, July 9. . The increase must be approved first by the Department of High ways. Letter of acceptance of ap pointment as engineer on the Rowcliffe drain and promising early attention to the work from C. P. Corbett was noted by coun cil. . Council was advised that the final draft of the Morrison dam agreement was not yet to hand. The road superintendent ad vised that the gravel purchase agreement with S. Brock had not been completed. The reeve and road superintendent were appointed a committee to inter view S. Brock regarding the agreement. In view of his heavy expendi ture for hospitalization, council agreed that William Elliott’s ap plication for supplementary as sistance to his Old Age Security now available under the Unem ployment Relief Act be approved in the amount of $20 per month beginning with the month of May. A grant of $50 was made to the South Huron Agricultural Society and Hensail Feeder Calf Club and a grant of $25 to the McTaggart Cemetery Board was approved. Tax collector’s fidelity bond for $2000 was renewed with the Gen eral Accident Assurance Co. through W. H. Hodgson for 36 months at a premium of $37.50 Road superintendent’s report along with road accounts to a total voucher of $1127.66 was approved, The road superintend ent reported that the cost of snow removal in 1956 amounted to $4,691.70 and the total cost for the winter of 1955-*56 was 4,925.- 40. The treasurer reported receipt of $42.00 from the road superin tendent in accounts receivable and others amounts received since May 14 of $706.65 and a balance of cash of S3,432.69; also -—Please Turn to Page 16 Hot Ideas For Cool Profits - Want-Ads FOR SAI-E FOR RENT REAI- ESTATE BULL CALF-ajib Dow, phone 83,Exeter. 21c COOK STOVE, with pipes, in good condition.
