C. Pearce held open house at their home oh Ann St. on Saturday afternoon arid even ing, Mr. and Mrs. Pearce, the for mer Sara Northcott, youngest daughter of Mr. arid Mrs. Will jam Northcott of Sexsmith, were married at the bride’s home by Rev. Wm, Godwin of Maio Street church. The bridesmaids were Miss Nellie Gould, now Mrs, Arnold Moir, of Calgary, and Miss Mary Young, of Crediton, now Of Wind sor. They were unable to be pre sent fol' the golden celebration. The little flower girl, Miss Ed na Geddes, of fifty years ago, is now Mrs* Wm. Snell, of town* The groomsman was Mr* s. M. Pearce, of Fingal, who was pre sent, The groom’s cousin, Arthur Lumley, who played the wedding march, now fives in Evansville, Indiana, Mr, arid Mrs* Pearce lived on the groom’s farm near Iona for a number of years afterwards mov ing to a farm near Hensall. They came to Exeter 30 years ago* They have a family of four daughters,, and two sons: (Fran ces) Mrs, Wesley Redmond, Grosse no, Mich.; Charles, of Brantford; .(Marjorie) Mrs. J* E. Whitirig, Hazelton, B.C.; (Eva) Mrs. Austin Schwalm, Stratford; (Ruth) Mrs. Wm, Gaiser, Credi- ton and Ellis of Sputhwold. All were present with their families on Saturday except Mrs. Whiting who talked to her parents by phone from Hazelton, Mr. and Mrs. Pearce have ten grandchild, reri. • » Many bouquets, gifts and cards were received by the celebrants including (gold) money front the family, The bride of fifty years ago received HCr guests wearing a gdld lace dress, a gift Of the family. Exeter arid .district who attended it. - Miss Kathy Brown, home eco nomist for R.C.A. Victor, Toron to, Who conducted the school, filled every minute of the three hour program with instructions for freezing meat, fruit arid vegetables and making tempting main course dishes and desserts. Her sense of humor and her French acderit kept her listeners interested, uritil the. final draw for prizes had been made. Business men from Exeter and district and Eastern Star mem bers donated prizes and all the fopd prepared by Miss Brown went to those whose tickets were drawn. ' Mrs. A. Johnson, Kippen, won the door prize On Monday night and the main prize, a radio don ated by A. E. Snelgrove, whose electrical appliances were dis played, went to Mrs. Harry Car- roll of Centralia.
