Twenty-six volunteers, includ ing members of Hensall Kms- men Club and other organisa tions, made a house-to-house canvass last week to urge people to take advantage of the free tuberculin examination. Chairman P. L, McNaughton said this week he hopes all citi zens will take advantage of this service. Hensall clinic will be held in the Community Centre, Friday, May 25, from 2 to 5 ip the afternoon, and 7 to 10 in the evening. » The mobile clinic will stop at General Coach plant the same days, from 10.30 to 11.30 in the morning, where it is expected 148 employees will be x-rayed. Bride Showered Mrs. Wilmer Adkins was hos tess Thursday evening, for a presentation for Miss Shirley Dick, bride of Saturday, when 50 neighbors and friends honored her with a miscellaneous shower of gifts. The presentation address was read by Mrs, W. Brintnell, June and Joyce Munn favored with a piano duet, and Patricia Harris, a piano solo. Hensall Topics Mrs. Grace Harpole who has been spending the winter months with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Peacock, of near Ottawa, has returned home, She was accompanied by her granddaughter, Jarvis, who will,spend a few weeks here. Miss Jean Lavender, and Miss Ruth Soldan, who have been attending Teachers’ College in London, have successfully passed their examinations on their year’s work, and have re turned to their respective homes. Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Cook, visited over the week-end holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Corlett at Leamington. Their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Corlett, of Toronto, also visited there for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Keitlr Lindsay, of Thamesville, spent the week end with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson. Mrs. Charles Jinks returned to her home here this' week after spending a number of'weeks in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mrs, J. Smillie and Mrs. Myrtle Sproat spent a few days recently in Windsor. Miss Jarrott was travelling south on No. 4 Highway near Centralia, when a car, driven by Don BeU, of the Y.M.C.A., Lon don? collided with the back of her car, forcing it into the ditch, overturning and sliding some distance on its side. Provincial Police Officer Roy Grover, of London, investigated. Two lady passengers in the Bell car and a male passenger m the Jarrett car were unhurt. Nearly $800 damage was Caused. Mrs. J. Henderson Active In Church Mrs. John L. Henderson passed away suddenly at her jiome, No. 4 Highway, just north of the village on Sunday. Mrs. Henderson, the former Annie Belle McLean, was born pear Kippen sixty-two years ago. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church, a former choir member and organ ist, life member of the W.M.S, and active in the Woman’s Asso ciation, a member pf the Kippen East Institute, She is survived by her hus band, two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Fowler, Toronto, and Mrs. Earl Sproat, in Hensall. The body rested at the Bon thron funeral home, Hensall, until Wednesday, when public service was held from St. An drew’s United Church, Kippen, conducted by Rev. Norman McLeod. Interment was made in Baird’s Cemetery. Parade Of Gowns Features Shower Miss Grace Forrest, a bride elect of this week, was feted at a miscellaneous shower in Stan ley Township Hall, at Varna. Highlight of the evening was a fashion parade of wedding gowns in which the girls modelled bridal garments of 75 and 50 years ago. Models were Marion, Ruth and Jean Turner, Margery and Joyce Webster, Lola Chuter, Mae Coleman, Barbara Taylor, Mrs. Grant Webster and Norma Love, Included in the program, be fore the gifts were unwrapped, was a piano solo by Margery Webster; a tap dancing duet by Marjorie Turner and Nancy Con- sitt; vocal trio by Ann and Mary Stephenson and Bert Coleman, and a poem by Miss Mae Cole man. Presentation address was read by Miss Dorothy Turner. Miss Forrest was given many gifts at the presentation held for her at her parents’ home, when 50 relatives gathered for the event. Arranging the affair were Mrs. Dave Triebner and Mrs.- Lorne Thompson- Marion &nd Margaret Forrest, played piano instrumentals, and Mrs. Triebneh sang a solo. Grace was escorted to a decor ated chair over which hung balloons filled with confetti. Mrs. Lome Thompson read an ad dress, and Brenda Trxebner, Frances Blacker* and Elva Fink- beiner carried in a decorated basket laden with gifts. Y.P.y. Anniversary The Y.P.U., of St. Andrew’s. United Church, held them annual spring anniversary on Sunday with a good attendance. The guest speaker at both services, was Rev. A.
