Ten of them took part in the play “Kamla’s Eyes," writ­ ten by the girls and directed by Carol Gibbons. ■Shirley Genttner, who played ■the part of Relvam, and Sandra Hunter as Kamla, received special commendation for their outstanding performances. Shir­ ley Genttner, Fatty Heywood, Elizabeth Knox, Diana Knox, Marion Bentley, iSandra Hunter and Nancy MacTavi&h received, their first proficiency stripe from iMiss Eleanor Rice, Domin­ ion supervisoi* of girls’ work. The leaders, -Mrs, Vernon Heywood and Mrs. N, D. Knox, accompan­ ied (the girls in ..cars driven iby Mrs. Richard Dickins, Mrs. Bruce Tuekey and Rev. N. D. Knox. The quilt depicting scenes from the study 'book made by girls as well aS bheii* concertina scrap books and copy of their play was >on display. These will be sent to the Diocesan competi­ tions and winners will be sent to the Dominion competitions. Smith’s .group of James St. W.A. planned the pro­ gram .for the meeting held ‘last Thursday at the church. Mrs. Smith conducted the devotional period on the theme, “What is Man?” 'She gave a reading in keeping with Mother’s Day and Mrs. Oare Green sang an appro­ priate solo. The Rev. N. >D. Knox was intro­ duced by Mrs. Allan Fraser, a member of the service committee of the -local branch of the .Cancer Society. After speaking -briefly on education, research and service as they iare related to the disease, Rev. Knox showed a film entitled "iCancer is a Word.” The W.A. voted to hold 'the June meeting in the Auxiliary room of the hospital. ‘Clancer dressings will be made and mem­ bers will contribute articles fbr the Cancer (Society’s gift cup­ board. Flans were completed for the Blossom Tea to be held on 'May 16. 'C. Blain Moffatt, of London’s House of Lamps, will ispeak on “Damps and Interior Decorating.” Elimville Girls Learn To Cook The second meeting of the Elim.ville upper Club—4-fH Homemaking 'Club was held at the (home of Mrs. Gilbert Johns with 14 members (present. Mrs. Ward Kern, leader, spoke on “Good Food Rules” and the “Value of (Milk in the Diet.” Mrs. .Gilbert Johns gave ways of serving milk in the diet. (Sylvia Johiis arid Carol Anne Hume demonstrated the making of cream of mushroom soup and Mary iSkinner, Grace Routly, Alma (Hern and' Betty Anne Stephens .made cream sauce and cheese souffle. “Kountfy Kitchenettes" was the name selected for the club. Fruits 'Were discussed at the third meeting of the Kountriy Kitchenettes at the home of Mrs. Ward Hem alter school. Twenty-Four Hour Salad (Mrs. Ron Watkin, ‘Centralia.) 3 2 2 2 1 Dash of salt .2 cups drained canned cherries ■2 cups (drained pineapple tid­ bits '2- oranges, cut in pieces 2 cups quartered' or small tmarsmallows 1 cup heavy cream, whipped. iCombine egg yolks, sugar, vine­ gar, pineapple juice, butter and salt in top of double boiler over hot (not boiling) water until thick stirring constantly. Mrs. ■Websiters’s chocolate squares may be iced, or not as you prefer, Chocolate Squares' (Mrs. George Webster.) (Cream together: % cup butter 1 cup sugar (white or brown.) Add: 2 ibeaten eggs. Mix well. ISifit together: % cup all-piurpose flour cup cocoa. Add to first mixture with 1 tsp.' vanilla. Mix well. Bake in 'greased 8x8 pan at 3'50° for % of an hour.
