X-rays, May 14 and 15. Mystery prize was won by Mrs. H. W. Winkler. Easter Week Program Features Fun Contests Ethel Caldwell Wed In Kippen St. Andrew's United Church, Kippen, lovely with a floral back­ ground of tall standards of yel­ low daffodils, white chrysanthe mums, and candlebra was the setting for a charming wedding on Saturday, March 31, at 2 p.m, when •Caroline Ethel Isabelle Caldwell, became the bride of John David Moore. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Harry A. Caldwell, and the late Mr. 'Cald­ well, of Kippen, and the groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Moore, Clinton. The iRev. Norman McLeod of­ ficiated. Mrs. Ross Broadfoot of K'ippen played traditional wed- ing musie and accompanied the soloist, Miss Wilma Walters, of London, who sang “Because” and “The Lord’s Prayer’’. Given in marriage by her bro­ ther, Jack 'Caldwell of Kippen, the bride was lovely, gowned in white nylon tulle over satin, floor length, styled with Italian lace 'bodice, *a shoulder length veil of tulle illusion fell from a “hale of pearls and crystals, and ©he carried a white Bible, decora­ ted with yellow roses and strea­ mers. Cultured pearl earrings, gift of the .groom, completed her costume. Her attendants were Miss Merle Dickert, Kippen, maid of honor, and the Misses Donna and ■Ruth Anne Moore, of Clinton, sisters of the groom, were brides­ maids. The itrio were costumed in Antique gold nylon tulle over irisdescent taffeta with match­ ing bandeau trimmed with se­ quins. They carried boquets of mauve tinted mums. Ronald Moore, Clinton, atten­ ded the groom, and Donald Epps, Clinton, and Gary Cooper,. Till- sonburg, ushered. The reception for sixty guests ■was held in the church parlors, ■was held in the church parlors. Receiving the guests the bride’s mother w-ore a black and white ensemble; the groom's mother, who assisted, chose a blue silk dress with jacket and matching accessories. Both wore corsages of white carnations. For travelling to the United States for their honeymoon the ■bride donned a turquoise linen duster with matching dress with accessories in navy and white. Mr. and Mrs. Mooi-e will reside in Clinton. Guests were present from Lon­ don, Kitchener, Hamilton, 'Sea­ forth, Clinton, Egmondville, Stratford and Hensail. .Shower A miscellaneous shower was Jgiven by 'the community in St. Andrew’s United Church for Miss Isabelle Caldwell on Monday -evening. Over 100 ladies attend- •ed.Mrs. Winston Workman acted as chairlady for a program of two instrumental solos by Mrs. N. McLeod and two instrumentals by Mrs. Bruce McGregor and a reading .by Mrs. Robt. Elgie. Isabelle was led to a decorated chair with pink and white lattice background. An address was read by Mrs. Harold 'Caldwell. Miss Merle DiCkent, Mrs. H. Caldwell and Mies Bonnie Kyle .assisted in 'bringing the several baskets By DOUG SMITH An. Easter egg hunt for the children on Monday morning was the highlight to begin the Easter week program. CPPL television once again did a fine job of covering our program. A big vote of thanks to Can­ adian Packers for the kind do­ nation of 3Q. dozen eggs; to the Kinettes for the big job of color­ ing them and to the Kinsmen for hiding the eggs for the children in the arena. A grand time was enjoyed by all of the close to 150 children who participated despite the wet weather. A vote of thanks to Judy Ross, local playground supervisor, for her assistance. Included in the program was a costume display, a pet show, and a hat show. Costume display winners were Jim Carscadden, rabbit; Eliza­ beth Knox, lady of fashion. For the best dresesd pet Dian­ ne Jury won first with her dog; Elizabeth Cochrane had the 'lar­ gest pet, a police dog and Carol Hogarth, the smallest pet, a tur­ tle. For fancy Easter hat Brenda Hall was first with a creation of eggs, rabbits, excelsior and jelly beans; .original, Peter Schulthies, doll toaster cover; comedy, Jean Mooney, conglomeration of kitch­ en utensils attached to a seive. Peter iSchulthies, with 5 - eggs, won the Easter.egg hunt for 3 year-olds; 6 to 14 years, Lester Heywood, 33 eggs; Junior Bloodsworth, 20 eggs; Barbara Janke 17. Bowling Tournament For the Francois trophies there were three girls teams and three boys teams in the first half of the two-day tournament on Tues­ day. B. B. Armstrong’s team with a total of 538 was the top boys team for the day and Shirley Wurm's team with a total of 5 64 was the top girls entry. A good crowd is expected Thursday and each team will be out to bet- iter these marks. Sailboat Contest Due to high winds and very high water it was impossible ito run off the sailboat contest. How­ ever Bob Armstrong received first prize for his efforts in build­ ing a beautiful two-masted schooner.. Cross Country Race • Light-footed Lloyd Moore out­ distanced his six competitors in the mud covered cross-coumti'y run to take first prize. The course from Riverview Park through Dow’s farm to .the grandstand and return had mud, water, snow, fences and dogged uphill running. . Friday, 10 a.m., story-telling hour for 3 to 6 year-olds at the public school and Teen Time dancing Friday night 7.3'0' at the areana will finish up our Easter program. Leo J. Hennessey Veteran Of PUC Maintainence man for Exeter P.U.C. for 25 years, Lep J, Hen­ nessey died suddenly from a heart attack Thursday evening, March 29. He was in his fifty­ fifth year. „ He came to Exeter from Lindsay as an electrical con­ tractor and wired a number of farms and houses in this area before accepting a position with the utilities commission. Since that time he has been in charge of maintainence of waterworks, streetlight'ing and hydro services in town. He was keenly interested in sports, particularly 'baseball. He was a member of fit. Peter’s Church, 'Surviving 'besides 'his wife, the former Viola 'St. Thomas, of Lindsay, are three sons, John, Harrow; Patrick, Chatham, and James, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Allan Horton, Alliston; his father, Patrick Hennessey, of Exeter; four brothers, James, Herbert and Walter, of Lindsay; Stafford, of Omeemee; and two sisters, Mrs. John Fox, Omeemee, and Mrs. Martin Fox, Lindsay. The body rested at the Hopper- Hockey funeral home until Sun­ day morning, and then ’ 'the re­ mains were taken to the Burrows funeral home, Lindsay, Requiem High Mass was sung Monday in St. Mary’s Church, Lindsay, and interment made in the parish cemetery. Harvey Dies In Victoria Mrs. W, H, Harvey, 80-, passed away suddenly on Good Friday in Victoria* B.C. •She was the former Ellen Cud- more, a native of Usborne. In 1899 she married Wesley Harvey and they farmed on 'the Thames Road on the farm now occupied by Arthur Rundle. Later they lived in town where Mr. Harvey was associat­ ed with his brothers, Thomas and Joseph, in the flour mill. In 1907 they moved to the West. 'Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Winston and Eve­ rett, of Flaxcomb, 'Sask., and two daughters (Ruth) Mrs. Rex Dickson, Winnipeg, and Bernice, •at home; two sisters, (Grace) Mrs. William Butler, London, and (Rose) Mrs. Harvey Perkins, Usborne. Osc'ar Tuckey and Mr. and Mrs. William Tuckey attended the funeral on Monday of the late Robert H. Tuckey, 84, who jpassed away in St. Jo­ seph’s Hospital on Friday. The funeral was held at the George E. Logan and Sons funeral home, London, with interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Mr- Tuckey is a brother of Charles Tuckey of Exeter who was unable to attend the fune­ ral. Celebrate Silver Wedding Mr. and Mrs. William Marshall spent the.
