Gunning Dies In Stratford Mrs. Emerson Gunning, 57, ■died in 'Stratford General Hos pital on Sunday following a stroke. She was the former Edna McVey of Hibbert Township and had lived in -Mitchell since 1930. Why not find your ©lace in T.V,?” * Date Drop Cookies (Miss Ella Link.) ]> cups brown sugar cup crisco 2 1 % 'tsp. salt 1 -tsp. vanilla 3 eggs 3% cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp soda in 1 Tbsp, foot water. Mix well. Drop by spoonful on to cookie sheet. Make a small hollow in each cookie. Fill with spoonful of date filling. Place small piece of -dough over filling. Bake in 350° oven. Filling Cook until itihick. 2 cups chop ped dates, 1 Tbsp, lemon juice, ¥2 cup white, sugar, 2 Tbsp, flour, 1% cups water. Cool before using. % tsp. cloves % tsp. cinnamon • . 1 cup white sugar cup shortening % cup brown sugar (packed) 1 ¥4, cups sour milk 2 eggs. f Combine all dry ingredients and sift twice. 'Cream shorten ing. Add dry ingredients, brown .sugar and 1 cup sour milk. Beat well Then add eggs and rest of the milk? Beat again for 2 min utes. (Bakeat 37'5 for 25-30 mini uites. (Seven minute Icing made with brown sugar is suggested and Bettie adds a shake of .nut meg to the icing ,to keep every thing spicy. * * * * Haye you made banana bread .lately? We have a recipe Mrs. Oren Grace sent us and she has labeled it ‘very good’. Banana Bread (Mrs. Oren Grace, Dearborn) ¥2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 cup mashed ripe bananas 1 its®, lemon juice 2 cups sifted flour 3 tsps, baking powder ¥2 tsp. salt 1 cup chopped nut meats. Cream shortening and’ sugar together. Beat eggs until light and add, Press, bananas through seive and add lemon juice. Blend with creamed mixture. Sift flour, baking .powder and salt together and mix quickly into banana mix ture. Add nuts. Bake in grea'sod loaf ©an for 1% hours in 375° oven. The Bride Given in marriage by her fa ther the bride wore a white, waltz-length, strapless gown of. net and lace over satin with matching jacket. Her finger tip veil of French illusion was held by a headdress • of roses and pearls. 'She carried a bouquet of red and white roses. iShe ’was attended by her sister,, Mrs. Kenneth Quiggins of Detroit who wore a gown of white chif fon over blue taffeta with match ing blue headdress and carried bouquet of blue mums. iMir. Kenneth Quiggins was groomsman. Mrs. H. J. Snell played tradi tional wedding music and accom- paned the soloist, Mr. Douglas Gill of Grand Bend. Reception ’ For the wedding reception at the 'Dominion Hotel Zurich the groom’s mother chose a navy blue linen dress with white and- navy laccessories. .She was assisted by Mrs. Ford .gowned in -turquoise with navy accessories. For -the honeymoon to be spent in Niagara Falls the bride donned a porcelain blue linen dress with pink coat and navy accessories. On their return Mr. and Mrs. Ford will reside at Woodham.
