Miss Susanna Roux of Cape­ town, South Africa was guest speaker on Monday night to 32 members of Fairfield Farm For­ um meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Elliott. A group of ten school children sang a chorus aftex’ which Mr. Earl Haist introduced Miss Roux, who is a guest in his home. She and Mrs. Haist had been corres­ pondents for several years through the school children’s exchange of letters, but had nevex* met be­ fore. Miss Roux is a seasoned traveller and has visited several European countries. She is of French-Hugenot descent—her fore­ bears having come to South Af­ rica seven generations ago. All children there must learn the English language and Afri­ canus, Many people master one or two native dialects in order to keep native employees. The system of education is similax’ to the Canadian system but the length of the course is one veax’ less taking 12 instead of 13 years. .Miss Roux said the climate is .temperate with little snow which melts quickly.
