A motion was passed to sup­ port Exeter and District resolut­ ion in their campaign for drastic court action aginst sex deviates. The group decided to purchase a new stove for the kitchen. A motion was passed to fine each member five cents for failure to wear' badges and beret at the meetings. Past president, Mrs. D, J. Mc- Kelvie, was presented with a gift by Mrs. S. Rannie. Mrs. Robert gangster was winner of the mys­ tery prize. Bingo was enjoyed and lunch served under convenership of Mrs. W. Brown. Anglican Church Appoints Officials Mr. John Henderson was named minister’s warden at the annual meeting of St. Paul’s Anglican 'Church, Mr. Thos. Lavender was nailed lay delegate to synod and peo­ ple's warden. Jack Henderson is also a lay delegate, Mr. R. H. Middleton is vestry clerk and the auditors are Mes­ sers. During the course of" the even­ ing Mr. George Clifton of Bruce- field was elected to the Board of Directors replacing retiring director, Mr. William Caldwell. Mr. Ed O'Meara,, Toronto, ed­ ucational director of the United Co-operatives gave a abort talk on Co-operative work and showed a film, Mr. Ed Schenk, assistant manager local division, - United Co-operatives, Stratford, wan present and spoke. Roy McBride is president. Bertram Klopp, secretary-treas­ urer, and Garnet Mousseau, is manager of the organization. W. B. Cross Active Here William Bryant Anson Cross, 64, former manager of ithe Bank of Montreal at Hensall for 15 years, and prominent village re­ sident for 21 years, died sudden; Iy at his home on Thursday after­ noon Feb, 2 with a heart attack. He retired from the bank seven years ago. > His early life was spent at Chesley, and he came to Hensall from the Manitoulin district. He served at branches at Chesley, Watford, Delhi, Hanover, Flesh- erton. (Guelph and Manitewaning. During his hanking career at Hensall he was secretary-treas­ urer of Hensall Chamber of Com­ merce, and after retirement served ag town assessor. During World War 11 he was an active member of the War Service Committee. An active member of Hensall United Church, he served on the M. and M. committee. (Surviving besides his wife, the former Leola (Pearce, of Chats­ worth ,are one daughter, 'Mrs. Donald Robinson (Goldie) Lon­ don, and one brother E. R. Cross, of Clifford. A public funeral service was held at the family residence Fri­ day'evening conducted (by Rev. C. D. Daniel, thence to the Emke Funeral Chapel, at Chesley, where a public service was held on Saturday. Interment was in Chesley cemetery. Reeve Chairman Of Library Board Reeve N. H. Jones was ap­ pointed chairman of the Hensall Library Board at the meeting held in the clerk’s office on Tues­ day evening. J, A. Paterson was named sec­ retary-treasurer at the same sal­ ary as last year, and Mrs. A. Cameron to continue as librarian at $350 per year. The book com­ mittee is to include Mrs. W, O. Goodwin, Miss M. Ellis, Mrs, E. B, Normington and Rev.’ D. Mac Donald, The librarian reported 371 books circulated in December and 362 in January. Of this number 156 were juvenile for December and 141 for January. The board will meet again April 3. Those present were Reeve Jones, Mrs. W. 0. Good­ win, Mrs. Joynt, Rev. D. Mac Donald, R. Reaburn and J. A. Paterson, Health Minister To Speak Hon. Pwaul Martin, Minister of Health and Welfare, will be the •guest speaker at the annual Liberal Ra'lly at the Community' Centre-, Zurich, Friday February 24. It is expected three hundred will attend the banquet, catered by the ladies of the Evangelical Church, Ivan Kalbfleisch of Zur­ ich is president of the association. Mission Society Studies Indians Thirty seven members answer-^ ed the roll call at the February meeting of the Women’s Mission­ ary society of the United church last Thursday afternoon Feb. 2. Mrs. L. Eiler and Mrs. Dilling’s group were in charge of the dev­ otional program and study book, with Mrs. Dilling presiding. The theme of the devotional was "Our High -Calling” ‘ and was taken by Mrs. C. D. Daniel, Mrs. iC. Cook, Mrs. W. R. Dougall, Mrs. J. Walker and Mrs. A, Rowcljffp. Mrs. Eiler presented the study “The Indian Work in iCanada” in a capable manner. Plans were discussed for ithe annual birthday party to be held ih March. An invitation was ac­ cepted to attend the World’s Day of Prayer in Carmel Church this month. A pleasing duett was sung by Mrs. Hess and " Mrs. Eiler. Mrs, G. Armstrong, president, presided for the business period and closing exercises. A social hour was held. Hensall Personals Mr. and Mrs.. Laird Mickle? Charles, Bob and Ann, spent the weekend in Toronto taking ip the Friday evening Ice Follies at Maple Leaf Gardens and visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Davidson of Port (Colborne, visited with friends in the village over the weekend. Mr. John Hazelwood was taken to South Huron Hospital, Exeter, last week'in the Interest of his health.
