Recently we had a newspaper
clipping sent to us which 'told
an interesting little story about
Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower and
gave a recipe for fudge 'which
she used as “date bait” when
Second Lieut. Eisenhower was
courting her.
According to the story, when
they were married the only two
things the bride could make were
fudge and mayonnaise. Forty
years ago the man who is now
president of the U.iS.A. gave the
name “Mamie’s milion dollar fud
ge” to this -candy which .is now
popular at the White House.
It’s leap year, girls, and who
knows anaybe your boy friend
will go for this “date bait” too.

these cookies which are the kind
that need -no baking. Miss Elva

If you .prefer a good old-fash
ioned molasses cookie, the fat
kind, we have a recipe sent to
us by a friend we’ve known since
we were in public school. Her
home was near the school and it
was a favorite spot to 'drop in
on the way home. Quite often we
sampled cookies made from this
recipe by our friend’s grandmoth
er. iSo it’s really an-old recipe.

Not anywhere near as expensive as it looks,
because the Cherry Creme filling and frosting
’are one recipe made with evaporated milk 1
This economical form of pure milk saves
pennies while it enriches your
cooking. Desserts taste creamier, soups
are richer, gravies turn out smooth as
velvet. Evaporated milk is useful
dozens of ways. Keep it handy,
and be a better cook.
