Safety Idea
To Net Prize
'Best safety idea may met a
farm organization in Huron boun
ty a prize of $100 in conneetion
with a rural safe-driving cam
paign in February.
Details of the contest were re
vealed at the Huron Federation
of Agriculture meeting in Clin
ton last week. All farm organi
zations in the county will he eli
gible to compete for a $100 prize
from 'the province for the best
safety idea. In addition, the coun
ty organizations ean compete -for
three (Huron Prizes, donated by
the Co-operator’s Insurance As
sociation.
(Rural safe-driving week will -be
■observed from February .20 to
25. The Federation plans to start
the-campaign in iHuron iwith a
banquet at which the contest
prizes will be presented by Huron
Judge Frank (Fingland. An of

when the societies held the first
meeting of the new year on
Thursday of last week. Devotion
al period was led by Mrs. A. Bak
er and the Study Book was re
viewed by Mrs. N, Lamport.
'Mrs. G. Hill presided for the
W.M.S business when annual re
ports were given. W.A. business
was conducted by Mrs. G. Zwick-
er with Mrs. Ray King filling the
secretarial office. The ■ meeting
favored a donation of $50 to the
M and M fund and decided to
again plan for a bazaar to be
held later in the year.
Members decided to partici
pate in a bakeless bake sale, and
a pot luck supper will be served
on Thursday evening, January 26
prior to the congregational meet
ing. Afternoon „ hostesses were

and Mrs. J. Woodall.
Celebrate Anniversary
Mr and Mrs. Charles Green
were taken by surprise on Satur
day .evening when about 20
friends and neighbors serenaded
them at theii’ home and enjoyed
a social time in honor of the 45th
anniversary of their marriage.
Charles Green and Lucy Bowen
were united in marriage by Rev.
C. .Baker at New Westminster,
'B.C. where they continued to re
side for many years. After spend
ing some time in London, they
purchased the home of the late
Henry Eilber on Main Street* and
decided to settle in Crediton.

Mrs. Russell Self, a missionary
in the Jhansi field, was guest
speaker. She stated that India has
now a population equal to that
of North America, South America
and Africa. It is very important
that the people be supplied with
Christian literature—other sects
are pouring cheap, colorful, liter
ature into the country.
