For the second game in a row, Mohawks held the prolific pair perennial good looks of alumi num screen cloth. It gets star billing among builders and home owners both because it lasts so much longer and because it never stains or discolors sur rounding woodwork. It is also the lowest-priced non-rusting insect screen on the market. And that adds point to the happy fact that Canada is the world’s most efficient alumi num producer. And that fact, in turn, means that people who make aluminum screen and window frames, roofing and hardware for Canada’s active building industry can do so at prices that save a lot of people a lot of money. ALUMINUM COMPANY OF CANADA, LTD. (ALCAN) (scoreless Tuesday night when they racked up their 7-0 win. The Stratihroy playing-coach and his fierce teammate, foiled by the Tribe’s defensive strategy, didn’t look like league leaders in either contes. Despite the poor showing of Emms and Barash against Moh awks, the two have established such a lead in the group scoring race it’s doubtful if they can be caught by the season’s end. Only players who could out point them are Exeter Mohawks’ trio, Bill Oberle, Red Loader and Larry H e id e man , But even though these Tribesmen have played five less games, the Rock ets’ margin is formidable. Emms with 56 is 17 ahead of Bill Oberle, the leading Mohawk. To catch the Strathroy playing coach Oberle would have to score over three points a game for the ■five contests which separate the two clubs and better Emms’ mark for the rest of the season. It’s possible but it’s a big chore. The balding Rocket coach had a field day against Goderich Mon day night when he figured in all of his team’s seven goals in the tie game. Barash picked up three goals and an assist. Young Billy McDonald is the ■top Goderich Sailor in the scor ing race. He moved into sixth spot last week. Doug Thiel leads Milverton snipers with 25 points. ....... ■■■...................................■ Accept Donations For McEwan Gift Booster Club officials an nounced this week they will accept donations from Mohawk fans toward a gift of apprecia tion to Harry McEwan. The gift will be presented on Harry McEwan Night—Friday, January 20 — when Clinton Colts will play an exhibition game in the local arena. Booster Club P r e s i d e n t Lloyd Cusliman said a number of persons had approached members of the executive with a desire to contribute towards a gift for the former captain. After a meeting, the execu tive decided to give fans an opportunity to participate in the presentations. Donations will be received at the Arena Box Office or at The Tiines- Advocate. The victory shoved Rockets off the Tribe's back in the Major Group standing. Strathroy had moved to within one point of the league-leading Exeter club be fore the contest. Baker, who appears well on the way to wrestling the league’s goaltender crown from Goder- ich’.s Gerry Hesse, earned his ■goose egg with a number of nim ble saves. He thwarted several (Rocket breakaways and covered roubounds like a tent. The shutout gives the Exeter school teacher an average of 3.54 goals against for the season, two full goals better than his nearest rival, Bob Rabethge, of Milver ton. Hesse, who has held Gerry Smith’s netminding cup for three years, is in third spot with a big average of 4.89. Sparkling Heideman Larry Heideman’,s four tallies were just reward for his spark ling performance at centre ice. The tall playmaker was by far top man of the evening. His quartet of markers moves him into third place for total goals in the league and into fifth place in the scoring race. He has 21 tallies and 10 assists. (Bill Oberle, who scored twice himself, now has 23 markers, only three less than Junior Bar ash who leads the league’s goal getters. Oberle, top Exeter scorer, is in third place in the poi nt race. Warned To Win Sailors Do So A revitalized Goderich team— apparently faced with the alter native of winning or disband ing—jolted Exeter Mohawks with a 5-1 defeat in the lake port Fri day night. The iSailors put their most ag gressive battle of the season as they outfought the league-leaders to score an upset after Mohawk’s 11-5 win here the same week. (Rumors indicated club officials gave players an ‘ultimatum to win or else they would disband the club. Dissension (has rocked the team.
