Clandeboye Lady Reaches 90 Years Mrs. Mary Ritchie celebrated hex* ninetieth birthday on Janu­ ary 1 at the home of her daugh­ ter and son-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd Lynn. She has four child­ ren, Carl, of Baden, Ont., Mrs. Wilfred (Audene) Cunningham, of R.R. 1, Clandeboye, Mrs. Lloyd (Gladys) Lynn, R.R. 1 Clande­ boye, and Will Ritchie, of R.R. 8 Park'hill.Mx’s. Clandeboye School Meeting The annual meeting of the Clau'deiboye Public School No. 4 and 12 was held at the school, Clandeboye. ‘Harry Murless was appointed chairman of the Board for 19 56 with .Senioi’ trustee, Jack Har­ rison; new trustee-Wm. Lucan Merchants Distribute Prizes Every street in Lucan Satur­ day afternoon December 24 was black with parked cars and Main St. itself was jammed with citiz­ ens of Lucan and community who had gathered for the Business Men’s Annual pre-Christmas draw. Reeve Harold Corbett was -in charge and announced the names of winners who had to be present to qualify fox* prizes (Only two names were drawn of absentees) Policeman Don Laughton did the drawing. Sponsors Festival The December meeting of the Lucan Home and School Associ­ ation was held Tuesday evening .in the school auditorium with the president, Mr. Stewart Park, in the chair and Mr. Howard Kew at the piano, The president reported that no replies had been received re a cot for use of sick or injured children so Mrs. Art Black of­ fered to loan them a cot for the time being. Principal B. H. El­ liott and Mrs. C, W. Parkinson were -named a committee to. ar- ange for the placing of names on the awards. It was decided to accept the offer of two hours seating for the pupils at the Arcana, Friday eve for $10. Mrs. Lloyd Acheson who con­ vened the meeting, reported on the North Middlesex Musical Fes­ tival to be held in the Lucan Community Centre May-14-15 which is being sponsored by the Lucan Home and School Asso­ ciation. The high-light of the meeting was the children's program pre­ sented by Miss Bette Leake of London, who teaches music in the school once a week. The presentation of the Nativity Scene and a patriotic pageant were a credit to both teacher and pupils. Pot-Luck Supper The annual congregational and Sunday School pot-luck sup­ per was held in the Anglican Church basement last Wednes­ day evening with a good crowd in attendance. The new minister, Rev, J. Prest and family, were unable to be present. Following a bountiful supper, all went up to the Parish Hall for movies and a children’s con­ cert, which concluded with the Nativity Scene under the direc­ tion of 'Miss Lina Abbott. The concert began with songs by the tiny nursery children who all received a book as their Christ­ mas gift. Lucky Winners Mr. James Ryan’s lucky ticket won for him an electric clock donated by Mr. Cliff McLean, of the Reliance Service Station. Mr. Les Woodward’s ticket won for him an electric grill donated by a London gas station. Elect Trustees At the S.S. No. 2 school board meeting last Wednesday, the following trustees were elected, Messrs. Kermit Thompson, Jim Barker and Arnold Cunningham. Miss Mina Eddie, of Glencoe, will continue as teacher. Amplifier Installed Messrs. Park. ’ Explorers Sing Carols The Lucan-Ulandeboye Explor­ ers held their Christmas Party on Friday evening, December 23. They met for games at 4:30 followed by a lunch suppei’ and exchange of gifts. Mrs. Warner ■McRoberts, W.M.'S. president as­ sisted with the party. At 7:00 the girls left the church in two groups of 13 each, lead by Counsellors Kae Hackett and Iva Hodgins, and former Counsellors Elva Young and Joan McLean, and sang carols to 16 shut-ins of the village, leaving a generous bag of homemade can­ dy as a remembrance from the Explorers. On 'Saturday afternoon, Ex­ plorers Marilyn Culbert, Janet Kehl ’ and Joan Whitehead,_ companied Counsellors Iva Hod­ gins to the home of Mrs. Caro­ line Hunn where they presented a Christmas basket to Mrs. Hunn and Mrs. Sarah Thomas.
