CHRISTMAS TREES FOR SALE Hoffman DASHWOOD New Canadian Congregation Dedicates $20,000 Church Fifty New 'Canadian families proudly opened their first church in their adopted land at a special service Friday night. The'congregation of the Christ­ ian Reformed church in Exeter turned out. in full force to cele­ brate the completion of their house of worship at the north end of town, Tn words and song, in Dutch and English, the Netherlands na­ tives dedicated their church to "the Glory of God” and gave •thanks that they enjoyed the freedom and the prosperty to be able to erect it. They expressed, too, sincere gratitude 'to the native Canadians who helped them erect their religious home. The official opening ceremony took place when Don Penninga, of Exeter, one of the members of the building committee, pre­ sented the key of the new church to its minister Rev, George J. Hoytema of Clinton. Members of the consistory pre­ sented a Bible, communion table, offering table, baptismal font and collection plates. The tables and font were made by Cornelius Van Daalan, of Zurich, a member of the congregation. ROSS SKINNER The newly organized Canadian Girls In Training and their lead­ ers conducted an impressive ves­ per service in the church Sunday evening. The National Christmas order of service was followed with Allison Clarke as leader. The girls and leaders, in uniform for the first time, entered the church singing “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing” and proceeded to their places in the choir loft and on the platform. . Mrs. Clarke, who recently or­ ganized the group, spoke briefly of her work among the C.G.I.T. through the years and of the pleasure derived from it. Leaders assisting her are Mrs. Frank Hicks, Mrs. Jack Essery and Mrs. Ray Shoebottom. The story “White Christmas” was told by Mrs. Ray Shoebot­ tom. Eleanor Mae Hodgins was the pianist for the service. The group colours, blue and white, were used for the decorating. Women’s Missionary Society The December meeting of Women’s Missionary Society held in the schoolroom of church on Tuesday evening, cember 13, with the C.G.I.T. visiting ladies in attendance.
