Gunning Born In England Mrs. Albert Gunning, 87, pas sed away on Tuesday in Usborne Township at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Earl. (Sihe was the former Alice Kirk of South, England and came to Canada at the age of 17 and was married to Albert Gunning 68 years ago, They farmed near Whalen and following her hus bands death, 30 years ago she lived in Exeter until recently. She’ was an active member of the United Church and in ,bhe Wo men’s Missionary (Society. .Surviving are one son, Wai ter, of town and five daughters (.Edna) Mrs. Percy Passmore, town (Olive) Mrs. Wilson’ Mor ley, town, .((Hilda) Mrs. William Tookey, London, (Tessa) Mrs. Allan Jaques and (Elsie) Mrs. James Earl Zion. 1:3 grandchild ren and 24 great grandchildren. The body rested at the Hop per-Hockey funeral home until Thursday when funeral services’ were conducted by Rev. H. J. Snell with’ interment in Exeter ■cemetery. Oakes, Clinton, and two spec ialists from London attended. 1 Brenda Mr. and Wil Family Honor Exeter Couple Mr. and Mrs. John Jones of town were pleasantly surprised on the occasion of their fortieth wedding anniversary on Thurs day last when their family en tertained them to a turkey din ner at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Jones. (Nieces, nephews and friends were entertained in the evening when .games and contests were enjoyed. Mark Nativity At Churches White Gift Sunday was ob served at Caven Church when the Sunday School an<l congrega tion met together for the morn ing service. Gifts were placed under the Christmas tree and will be given to South Huron Hospital. The altar was effectively decorated with candelabra and the open Bible. 'Bibles for the Sunday Schools were dedicated by Thomas Pryde of the session and received by the Sunday School superintendent, Mr. W. G. Cochrane. A nativity service was depict ed by the C.G.I.T. at Caven Church on Sunday evening. The events leading up to the birth of Christ and the manger scene with the wisemen and shepherds, were depicted in four different scenes with suitable readings. Those taking part included Phyl lis Cann, Mary Kerr, Donna Bridges, Marilyn Strang, Carolyn Sampson, Gwen Simpson, Mary Shaw, Carole Hogarth, Bernice jjjtjrange, Helen Taylor and Lois Tinney. Mrs. Art Whilsmith and Miss Mary Ana Erskine directed the service which received favorable comment. ■Christmas carols were a feat ure of the candlelight service in Main St. church on Sunday even ing. (Special musical numbers were a solo by Mrs. A. Hansen, a quartette by R. Russell, (S. Ince, Gerald and Harold .Skinner and a .chorus .by eleven ladies with lappiropTiate Christmas anthems by. the choir. Special Christmas music was (contributed at the morning ser vice of James St. church when a quartette was sung by Don Taylor, Grant McDonald, Don Welsh and Bob 'Fletcher, a duett by Mrs. Hugh Parsons and Grant McDonald and a solo by Mrs. John (Goman. (Rev. H. J. Snell delivered a 'Christmas message "A Festival of Joy”. At the evening service Mass Betty Brady presided for the IC.G.J.T: vesper service. Robin Smith conducted the opening de votional of scripture and prayer. The candlelighters were Carol Fletcher, Mrs. L. Cushman, Mar- ale Sanders, Miss V. Ballagh, and Jane Farrow. R^v. H. J. iSnell told the story "A white Christmas” and Marilyn (Bissett sang a> solo.
