The new grants, which double the township’s annual contribut­ ion to local fairs, were made at the request of .both sponsoring organizations who lost money this year. A donation Of $25 was made to the Kirkton Library. W. R. Brock was appointed to the Land Purchasing .Committee of the Ausable River 'Conservat­ ion -Authority to represent the township in negotiations with land owners ■ in connection with MONEY TO PAY ’Til NEXT YEAR the proposed dam at Gon. 2-3. Certificate of final completion of the Moir Drain was received from the engineer and all ac­ counts were paid. The treasurer/ N. G. Clarke, was authorized to make application to the Depart­ ment of ’Public Works for the provincial aid to drainage grant. Council ordered the treasurer to close all drain accounts for the, year and to charge all drains ow­ing to the township interest at the rate of five .per cent and tp pay all drains to which the town­ ship owes money, interest at the rate of three ,per cent. Council agreed to retain Emer­ son Penhale for snow removal work as in former years, guaran­ teeing him $95 a -month from December 15 to March 1'5. Huron Plans Mass X-Ray The Huron County Tubeiiculo- sis Association plans to stage a mass X-ray in Huron County next May, it was announced fol­ lowing a recent mooting. •Dr. W. Jamieson, Toronto, of thp T. B. division of the Ontario Department of Health, attended the meeting ami assisted in out­ lining the plans. In the last mass survey, held 1952, 12,852 people were x- rayed, in which it was discovered that there were 17 preliminary tuberculosis cases, eight of which were active and in addition 310 other diseases and abnormal ties were found. Mrs. J. B. Russell, iSeafortli secretary - treasurer reported on the association’s Christmas Seal Campaign which will assist finan­ cially with the mass survey. With 12,022 letters sent out to Huron County residents with seals en­ closed this year, $3,625 of a $12,- QOO objective has been received to date, Mrs. Russell stated.
