SKATE EXCHANGE Lucan And District News Mrs, Alcona Sarah Marshall Funeral services for Mrs. Al- c-ena Sarah Marshall, 62, were held from the George R. Logan and Sons funeral home, London, on Monday, conducted hy the Rev. J. A. 0. McKennitt. Inter­ ment was in Mt. Pleasant. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Phoenix McLean, Mrs. Mar­ shall was born at Elginfield on the farm now owned by her bro­ ther, Mr. Alvin McLean. She at­ tended Birr Public School and Lucan High School. After her marriage to Robert Marshall they farmed in London township before moving to Market Street, Lucan, where they lived for 10 years. For the past 18 years she lived in London. Mr. Marshall died in 1949. She is survived by two daugh­ ters, Mrs, Lee J. Taylor (Merle) and Mrs. Kenneth L. Raymond (Marion), both of London; one son, Graham, of Scarboro; two brothers, Leroy MoLean, of Al­ berta, and Alvin McLean, Elgin­ field; three sisters, Miss Neta McLean, London, ’Mrs. Louisa Co'blei'gh, London township, and Mrs, Myrtle Baynes, London. League of Loyalty The following seven children became members of the League of Loyalty by attending church for five consecutive Sundays and received their membership but­ tons at the mornipg service in Holy Trinity Church: John Par­ ry, Mary and Catherine Mathers, (Douglas, Betty Ann, Joan and Helen Lewis. Cecil Atkinson Word was received in Lucan on Monday of the death of Cecil Atkinson, 7’3, of Red Deer, Alta., who passed away suddenly of a heart attack, on Sunday, Decem­ ber 4. Mr. Atkinson, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs, William Henry Atkinson, was born on the Sec­ ond north years Deer, He former Margaret Hamilton, Parry Sound, and two sons, don and Norman, both of Deer, and also one sister, Henry Hodgins, of Lucan. The W.A. of the United Church held a successful bazaar and tea in the church parlours last Wednesday. Many mothers avail­ ed themselves of Mrs. Murray 'Hodgins’ baby-sitting service in the church. Celebrate Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Harlton, of Granton, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Pine Crest Inn on Tuesday, De­ cember 6. Mr. Harlton succeeded the late John Fox, of Lucan, as treasurer of the Township of Biddulph, an office he held for 18 years. He farmed in Biddulph West Williams. In 1940 he tired to Granton. They^have sons, an adopted daughter mine grandchildren. Surprise Birthday Mr. Wil'bert Revington guest of honour at a surprise birthday party is his home on Friday evening, November 25. All the members of hiB family •but Mrs. Gailey Johnston, of St. Catharines, were present. They presented him with a pop-up toaster. Though 84 years of age, Mr. Revington enjoys good health. He has lived alone since Mrs. Revington’s death in October, 1954. Three we'eks prior to her death, they celebrated their golden - wedding anniversary. Lions Club Dinner Mrs. H. T. Bond’s group of the Anglican Ladies Guild cater­ ed for the Lions Club dinner in the church basement Monday evening. During the business session, plans were made for the annual turkey bingo to be held in the Stanley Hall, Thursday, Decem­ ber 15. Proceeds from the bingo will go towards welfare work. Hydro Night The Lucan Lions Club spon­ sored a Hydro Night in the Stanley Hall last’ Thursday night with Mr. Harold Whyte presid­ ing.
